What 90's song does this sound like?

Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls.

It kind of just sounds like every other generic alternative 90s song to me. Reminds me most of Everclear’s I Will Buy You A New Life.

Change the key and it’s almost the opening for an old Nirvana song.

What reminds you of the song? Is it the pattern of the notes or the notes themselves? Perhaps just the type of guitar sound?

It says everything about 90s music that every answer has been different. In other words, every 90s band sounds the same.

Just listening to the begining makes me think of REM.
