What kind of backpack is it?

I tend to just stick things in the washer. Depends on the materials though.

North Face Recon.

hmm, the site says the fabric is:

Fabric 420D nylon, 1680D Ballistics

I dunno. I’d stick it in the wash and air dry it. That’s what I do with my bags.

Can I use detergent or is that a no-no?

Your backpack has a website.

Machine washable.

Yeah, just don’t use bleach. That site says it’s machine washable. A different site had a user say don’t put it in. I don’t see why not. I’d use a gentle detergent.

I wash mine all the time, It never seems to hurt it.

The only cautionary note would be to use cold or warm water. NOT HOT.

I see it as similar to washing sneakers. Also air dry rather than putting it in the dryer.

Both hot water and driers are very rough on any kind of fabric.
