What do you use to clean your LCD screen?

Asked by babygalll (2768points) January 31st, 2010

I know they have a special cleaner to clean the screen, but it’s too much money for the amount you get. I know you aren’t suppose to use harsh cleaners with chemicals. Is there something else out there that is more reasonable for the amount of product you get? What about for the base and the frame around the screen? I was told only use water, but it leaves streaks and doesn’t look clean. Any suggestions out there?

Just use water and a microfiber cloth. You really don’t need anything else, and some screens can be damaged if you use anything else.

I use the special clothes and eye glass cleaner. It actually works. It is an endless job. The same annoyance as dust-filled HD TV screens.

iKlear seems expensive, but it is the best screen cleaner I have ever used. You actually get a lot of product – you only need a little spritz for one cleaning. I use it on lab computers that look like they were used to serve pizza. Leaves them perfectly spotless.

A chamois lens cloth.

Like @simpleD I use iKlear. I’m still using the same bottle I bought in 2002 and it is still half full. Not bad for 15 bucks. A couple sprays and you are good. Spray the cloth, don’t spray the screen.

Water and a soft cloth.

I just bought an LED big screen. The directions say only use water and a soft cloth.
It says the chemicals you can buy will damage the screen.

@filmfann: Do you do that right on the screen? Obviously the cloth has to be damp. I am kinda of afraid to do it right on the screen. What about on the border of the screen? I use water to clean it, but it leave streaks.

@babygalll The instructions specify that.
