What do seeing a group of three red cardinals mean in dreaming?

I am seeing three cardinals a lot this week in my dreams. I have been very sick with Influenza and could not do much but sleep. But I have needed this break from my regular life to pursue a deeper look into my life’s paths etc….sleeping for five days has given me the time to dream as well as figure out what I want to change in my life.I remember feeling warm, protected and safe when they would appear. Any thoughts out there?
