Does drinking milk exacerbate cold symptoms?

It seems the only thing I have an appetite for is chocolate milk and tomato soup with this cold….

Milk is thought to increase phlegm production, so for some, it might worsen what comes out of your sinuses. I wouldn’t worry about it though.

What @DrC said. It’s only an issue if you have chest/sinus congestion.

Chocolate milk and tomato soup are okay to have with a cold. the milk will cause phlegm on the back of your throat and will make you cough. i would take some antacids to combat the tomato soup and its acid. be sure to take a multivitamin each day and extra vitamin C. your cold will eventually wear itself out.

I have always heard milk products increase phlegm.
