Treating poison oak with topical steroids?

Asked by Seek (34805points) February 15th, 2010

I appear to have come in contact with some poison oak at my last bonfire. Not much, a few inch strip on my left arm, and a small patch on my leg. It’s itching like mad, and driving me crazy.

My husband has some topical steroid creams that were prescribed to him a few months ago.

One is Nystatin and Triamcinolone. I know Nystatin is an antifungal, so that’s probably not what I need.

The other is Triamcinolone Acetonide.

Will either one of those help this go away any faster?
