Do you just hate waking up from a Nightmare?

I mean one doesn’t know what to do. Should I go back to sleep if I can or get up and have a smoke? If i go back to sleep, will the nightmare resume where it l was when I awoke? What if I wake from the nightmare only to find that my waking is really just part of the dream and I cannot wake up?!?!?!
