Have you tried painting outdoors?

When spring starts, I want to start doing this all the time. My new neighborhood is full of natural beauty- there’s a great field right outside of my house, and I have a collapsible easel. This is something I’ve only done two or three times, and it was so much fun. I really love painting cityscapes. Once I was in an art class and we were drawing the World War two memorial in DC. There were a lot of veterans there, and some of them told us that we were wasting our time and should join the military. We also painted from a park where it looked like homeless people had been camping. It was an interesting class.

So… what are some of your favorite places and subjects? What materials do you like? Do people ever comment on your work while you’re painting?
