Can women make the world a better place?

Asked by LuckyGuy (43689points) February 19th, 2010

I’m a guy. In the end, everything I do is for women. For example, I eat so I will be healthy so I will be desirable to a woman. I clean up so I’ll look good and be desirable to a woman. I studied in school so I would get good grades, land a good job so I would be desirable to a woman. You get the idea. (I’m not on the market since I have a great woman now. Sorry.)
Here’s my thought. Women can change the world if they dated (and mated) with certain guys. For example, if our society needs to conserve fuel and be more ecoolgically sound, women can start the rumor that guys who drive Hummers all have short bits and are making up for it. If women only dated guys that drove small cars most single guys would be fighting to drive SMART cars.
The idea can be applied to other areas. If women recognized that guys who wear “Bling” are money wasters and avoided them, it would only take a short a while before men stopped getting gold caps.
If women only dated (and mated) with men who were polite and respectful, the loud, rude and crude would either change or die off without procreating.
Do you believe women can change the world by being more selective about whom they date?

Only as much as men can. And no more.
We are equal after all.

If a woman (or man, for that matter) was to make an assumption about me based on the car I drive, I’d probably laugh in her face.

So no, I don’t think so.

What with those hips…err. joke.Thinks on feet..em.diddley dee..Ahh. I love women, but that would only work in union with us blokes.

Someone said, “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” I would be happy having women take over. They rule my world already.

Right, because only men make mistakes like driving fuel-guzzling Hummers and wasting money on bling. Thank goodness we have another gender to guide our life goals and moral compasses, there’s no way we could figure these things out for ourselves. ~

Equality of both genders is necessary in making the world a better place.

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities good answer, that pretty much says it all. Blind worship of women is ridiculous. We’re all human, and some humans are dumb. It has nothing to do with gender.

There is no other way. And the world IS a better place with women. ;-)

We already have. :-)

You’re right. I guess women do stupid things for men too. Think high heels, push up bras and boob jobs.

not bad, not bad at all….but superficially beautiful women lurve…..all the wrong kinds of men :( Except for Marylin Monroe of course, she had good taste in men mostly

What a…uhh…interesting view on the world. I don’t believe I share your worldview, though. You shouldn’t live your life or even parts of your life so you’re desirable to women – do it for yourself and please stop thinking that all women can do to change the world is to spread rumors about mens’ bits. Many women care nothing for men or men’s bits and really do change the world.

wundayatta's avatar

Sure they can—in partnership with men and everyone else in the world.

Women are all soft and they smell nice. It’s a good start, whether or not humanity lives for the sole reason of maintaining itself.

What would happen if women stopped mating with guys that are pigs, abusers, bad boys etc. and went with the quiet ones? Would men change for the better?

mammal's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir i think he raised a valid point…should women be more discerning about who they choose to make love to?

LuckyGuy's avatar

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities I find that guys tend to show off more when women are around. Don’t get me wrong, women do dumb things for men too but they don’t need to as much.

Captain_Fantasy's avatar

That viewpoint seems more than a little sexist.

Women can affect the world much more directly than just influencing a man.

davidbetterman's avatar

They already have @jbfletcherfan!!! If it weren’t for women,
this place would really suck (sic)

Val123's avatar

Well, if you look at it in that very restricted way, everything women do they do to be attractive to men. And, in the end, it’s nothing more than biology.

davidbetterman's avatar

Don’t be silly. If it weren’t for women, men would be constantly at war with one another, instead of only every few years.
If it weren’t for women, we would have no indoor plumbing, no make-up, no sexy underwear like thongs, no beautiful homes.

Men would live in tents or shacks, defecate wherever they choose, fish all day, drink all night and gamble on sporting events.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@mammal well sure, but shouldn’t everyone?

Hey, my Mom made me. She is a woman. Enough said.

Story of Lysistrata. Take a look.

Ha! @gailcalled will be mad because I gave this classical reference before she had a chance.
That’s what she gets for playing with Milo all day instead of sitting at her desk, where she
belongs, taking care of her vast empire.

I can see where you are going, but everyone is equal…and by that I mean by potential, intelligence (well, excluding those who are mentally handicapped) and an equal stance in the world (excluding the presidents, dictators, leaders, kings, queens, bosses, managers….AUGH FORGET IT!!!)

LuckyGuy's avatar

I believe that both men and women can change the world. And both can do it in their own right. My comment was that there are additional ways to help.

@mammal got my meaning. Women can influence mens behaviors greatly by rewarding responsible behavior and avoiding bad. What a gift! It is a shame it is not being used more often.

@susanc Exactly!

mammal's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir i’m being pragmatic, you’re being idealistic

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@mammal sometimes, we switch roles

mattbrowne's avatar

Yes. When they are not involved you end up with perverse public laws like the ones in Saudi-Arabia.

syzygy2600's avatar

@davidbetterman Just curious, are you actually deluded enough to believe this bullshit, or are you just trying to be ultra liberal?

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@syzygy2600 hey! as an ultra liberal, I resent that statement. I don’t think he is an ultra liberal.
