Have you ever had trouble seperating an actor from a specific role?

I can’t watch Sean Connery in any movie, and not think James Bond. Or Paul Reiser and not remember that he was the guy who tried to kill Ripley in Aliens.
They are fine actors, but so effective in one role I cannot watch them without bringing that baggage with them.
On the other hand, I can watch Jeff Bridges or Anthony Hopkins, who are always terrific, independant of anything else they have done.
Who do you have trouble watching without relating to their other roles?
What made those roles so captivating? How can they escape such typecasting?
