Why does my television keep turning off, then starts "loading data"?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7991points) February 24th, 2010

It seems like it does this at least every fifteen minutes or so… The wires are fine, as far as I know, but it’s really getting on my nerves. What’s going on?

Is it the television or the satellite receiver that is shutting off? Is it raining or snowing where you are?

If there is snow on your dish it can make it do this. Can you knock the snow off with a glove or something soft? I don’t recommend a broom or scraper.

@buckyboy28 ; nope, it does this when it’s sunny and nice out, also. there’s no snow or anything.

The “loading data” part is what makes it more likely to be a problem with the satellite box, or the satellite service rather than with the TV.

When we used to have satellite, that was the mssg. that would come up.

Your TV itself doesn’t have storage capacity so the data is loading onto the box.

Call your provider and have them track down the problem.

it is either your satellite box, or your dish is pointed badly. I am guessing it’s the box.

I have Comcast Cable and when that happens to me it’s because someone left the DVD player on and it is trying to play a movie.
