How to get a microphone into an iPod touch without an external device?

Asked by Pseudonym (2547points) February 24th, 2010

I want to try out an app for an iPod Touch that requires a microphone. I don’t have one. Is there anything i can use for it?

If it requires a microphone you are going to need a microphone…unless you know magic.

I know that if you speak into the left side of a pair of headphones on a computer, it acts as a microphone (albeit a shitty one). I don’t have an iPod Touch, so I can’t test it out, but you could give it a shot.

@J0E Have you tried using headphones as a microphone? Take a pair of earbuds, plug it into your microphone jack, and try recording your voice. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I see you must have tried….
