Will Driver Parallel Lines let me skip over the cutscenes?

Asked by mathwhiz1 (264points) February 25th, 2010

I just found this from a review of this game:

“The Driver: Parallel Lines box indicates that the game is filled with all kinds of filth. M – Mature, with ‘Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language’. Sure, there is blood and violence, but the rest of the naughty bits are limited to parts of storyline portrayed only in pre-rendered cutscenes and they feel like a cheap shock marketing attempt. The main meat of the game is still just driving and shooting things, and in attempt to keep things gritty and ‘real’, even the violence is not that graphic.”

These cutscenes will make me feel really uncomfortable. I’m figuring that I can deal with blood and violence if it means I get to drive all around New York City. I think I saw on another review that there are 220 square miles to drive around on. That would keep me busy for a while. I’ve always wanted to go visit NYC. This game sounds like a good substitute until I actually get to go to NYC.

Um, no. To everything.

Hop on Google Maps and go wandering around Manhattan at the street level if you’re curious. A game is not realistic, period. You will not get a feel for the city by shooting things and driving around a replica of it. It will be a waste of your money.

And if you’re uncomfortable with partial nudity, sex and cursing but not intense violence and blood…something is off.
