Help with sound problems with DivX Player?

Asked by Facade (22937points) February 26th, 2010

I have the DivX Player. Recently the sound stopped working. Everything else still works. Do you know how I can fix this?

Something may have happened to the codec. Try checking for updates. If it is all up to date, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and see if that helps.

If not, you can always use VLC.

You could try resetting the PRAM. It has worked for me before, but I had no sound except for headphones.

This link will tell you how to do it:

Why are using Divx? Use VLC: Problem solved lol.

VLC wasn’t working correctly for me either. I tried it.

I reinstalled DivX and still have the same problem. @max53 I’m going to try your suggestion.

Resetting the PRAM didn’t work….

Do you guys know of a similar player I could download?

If you install perian from http://perian.org it’ll usually fix any sound issues with the DivX Player.

@porfitron What would I do with it once it was downloaded?
