Did anyone else use Google Notebook and is totally miffed that they stopped development and support on it?

Asked by maccmann (659points) March 1st, 2010

I used Google Notebook for research. It was jacked in with Firefox’s Google Notebook plugin which sat in my FF statusbar and was always ready to be employed to copy URLs and make quick notes.

Now It’s no longer supported so FF won’t allow it as a plugin. Google Notebook is still out there, but now the workflow has been crapped because Google isn’t sanctioning it anymore.

Here’s their “reasoning:”

Was anyone else out there a fan/user and not happy about this?

Yup, I used it as well, and was quite disappointed. However, I have not yet bothered to find a good replacement.
(I suppose Google Wave kinda works – but missing the handy extension leaves it hardly better than just e-mailing URLs and notes to myself)

I’ve never used Google Notebook, so I can’t see what it is that you’re missing, but I have enjoyed using ToRead, a simple bookmarklet that can email you summaries of a page that you’re viewing (plus its URL) for later viewing, without having to bookmark the page.

I like it very much.
