I've got a shitload of bubble wrap. What to do with it?

Asked by Vincentt (8094points) March 2nd, 2010

When I ordered a bunch of xkcd books, they came in a box with a lot of bubble wrap. Now, of course I could spend and entirely satisfactory afternoon indulging myself in the fine act of popping each bubble one by one, but I started thinking… Surely there have to be far more satisfying ways of enjoying the bubble wrap?

Make bubble wrap covers for journals. Ship sections of it to friends with a note telling them to pop it -nothing like good mail. Disposable drink cozy’s for a party.

You NEED to make bubble-wrap slippers & walk around wearing them!

If you make a suit out of all the bubble wrap, you could very well become the center of attention (in more ways than one) at the next costume party you attend. Worth a try anyways…

Do you have enough to make a tent? We did and it was pretty warm and we could see out. We were board and wanted to camp in the backyard.

@Grisaille you better hyphenate that shit before Gailcalled comes down on you

Wrap your self up in it and roll around on the floor, or wrap it around a small child/pet and let the fun ensue!

The lure of the bubble wrap, it’s after use purpose is to be popped – now that’s entertainment! just keep popping until it becomes a flat piece of boring plastic.

If you really want to make a bunch of little people happy, donate it to a local preschool or daycare center. I used to take it to the daycare where I worked, spread it on the floor, turn on some dance music, and let the kids go crazy.

@MissAusten Or just lay it down in front of every door in your house (like a welcome mat) and watch the expressions on the faces of those who ‘dance the dance’!

I’d like to see porn stars perform on a bed of that stuff.Multiple pop shots would ensue. That’s a wrap guys.

If there is enough bubble wrap to piece together make a mattress, put some massage oil on and roll around on it. This should make for a great full body massage. Or use it as an exercise mat, see how many sit ups you can do without laughing. that would be great core work

Cut it into squares, paint it red & call them ‘Tension Sheets’ :)

Let others enjoy it as well! You can invite the whole neighborhood over and then they can start popping the bubbles! (Incidentially…can I join?)

What @MissAusten said. I loved the stuff when I was little. Donate it and make a bunch of kids happy for ten minutes.

It’s really expensive if you have to buy it when you move, so I wouldn’t throw it out…but it will probably be hard to resist the poppabilities of it….

The UPS Store accepts bubble wrap and other packing materials for reuse.

Have Ringo Starr come over. He’ll know what to do with it!

Obscure early 80s Saturday Night Live reference. Dammit, I wish I could find the clip of that sketch.

You could invent your own fetish but remember, if you do, you have to come back onto Fluther and tell us all what role the bubble wrap played. We might want to try it also someday. No pictures, please.

Make Zoot suit out of it and swim the English Channel

Why give it away to UPS?

Sell it on ebay!

Once when I worked in a warehouse which received a lot of non-reusable bubble wrap I took a huge pile of it with me on the bus ride home. That bus ride turned into a PARTY!

I’ve never since seen so many happy folks riding the bus.

Just pop it in the corner.
