Why can't I trim my moustache straight?

Asked by majorrich (14741points) March 3rd, 2010

My mustache was getting a little shaggy so I decided to trim it this morning. It’s been a very long time since I last evened it up and the wax was not holding the curl very well. My first pass made it lopsided, as did my attempts to make it even. Before I knew it, I was left with a tiny patch that looked like I had exhaled coal dust on my lip. (ala Charlie Chaplain) So I shaved it off. This is only the second time in thirty years I have had a nekkid lip. Exactly the number of times I have trimmed on my own. I fail… and now my lip is so ticklish I am sick to my stomach.

Too bad no one videoed that. It would go platinum on You Tube.

It really helps if you have someone else trim it.

A cosmetic surgeon can alter your face to make the mustache appear straight (like an optical illusion). Think of all the money you’ll save by not tipping your barber. That might be negated by the cost of surgery though.

I think your moustache is straight, but one of yoru legs is longer than the other, leading you to stand lopsided and give the appearance that your moustache is crooked in comparison to the mirror.

The only thing I can think of is wear two different shoes, and wear the shoe with the thicker sole on the shorter leg.

@phoenyx That vid made me so, so happy. It was like the nineties all over again.

Try putting the beer down and closing one eye….

LOLL!! The more I think about it, the more it itches and tickles! Beer isn’t helping. Halp!

This reminds me of the Shel Silverstein poem:

Wavy

I thought that I had wavy hair
Until I shaved. Instead,
I find that I have straight hair
And a very wavy head.

@majorrich: Ha. You have hair. Be grateful and remember what really can make you sick to your stomach. (You do sound cheerful. How are you doing?)

Yeh. Hair started coming back in after the second session. I never lost my eyebrows! Still wheeling around the house and getting a car modified for if/when I am allowed to pilot the beast. Physical therapy is the yucky part. I make myself an example for the other folks in the ward. ( I am home now) Thanks for remembering me!
