Can someone suggest a good volumizing shampoo?

Asked by DarlingRhadamanthus (11273points) March 3rd, 2010

I’ve always used “Samy’s Volumizing Shampoo”, but it isn’t available in the UK. I bought a cache of it home with me on my last trip and it is about to run out. I tried to order some on Amazon.co.uk and the shipping for two bottles was £40! I cancelled my order.

I know that to get volume you should use a volumizing mousse, etc. but I have something I like already. I need a shampoo. I liked this shampoo because it did really work——you got volume and it did not leave your hair weighted or waxy. Most major brands are available here (if you are in the US and reading this.) I have dry ends, if that helps….so I cannot use a moisturizing shampoo.

I’d like a suggestion for a new shampoo…anyone?

Thank you!

Therapet Oatmeal Shampoo…Every Best in Show winner uses it and nobody knows this secret but it is handed out in each of the goody bags at the Oscars.

I have found volume in extremely clean hair! My favorite is Suave Daily Clarifing Shampoo. Then I condition with Pantene Pro-V Smooth. It isn’t oily or waxy and leaves my hair very clean so volume comes from the light weight of each strand, and the conditioner seals the hair shaft and makes lets each strand move independent of the others. My hair is healthy and I get compliments on it nearly every day.

Yes, I don’t know the brand but Cameron Diaz swears by it

Pantene Pro-V is crap. Ugh, so is Suave.

I used to love when I was younger and the girls used this stuff called “Gee your Hair Smells Terrific”(no joke) and “Agree”.

What? it’s good for the complexion too

I love Pantene. It’s been great for me in shampoos and conditioners. I really like their 2–1’s as well. The only Pantene product I have been unhappy with is their mousse (which gives a great voluminous effect but makes your hair sticky. :/).

Of course, everyone’s hair is different, so what works for me might not work for you. Have you tried any mousses after shampooing your hair? I have found that it helps with volumizing better than any shampoo I’ve found!
