What do you know about Ameros?

Asked by Skaggfacemutt (9820points) March 4th, 2010

My son said that President Bush signed an agreement with Mexico and Canada to go to a standard unit of money, like the euros, but called ameros. He is one that always thinks the government is plotting against us, but he says this is the reason we are being overrun by illegals from Mexico and Canada (that the agreement was to banish the borders) and this recession was also planned, to drop the value of the dollar to be comparable with Canada and Mexico’s currency, to prepare to make the switch. What can the collective tell me about this?

That your son is a mis-informed conspiracy theorist – doesn’t he know? We’re not calling it Ameros, we’re calling it Lurve.

Sweet Fanny Adams, although I imagine the theory has about as much veracity as thin air, less even.

They are imaginary.

When I say bull, you say shit.

Actually that is really great news! I am so relieved! I would rather think that my son is a misinformed conspiracy theorist than the scary alternative.

They are a hoax.

The idea of the Amero and the conspiracy theories behind it have been floating around for a while now. I haven’t heard your son’s version of the story before, but creating economic/trade transparency across North America is a goal of economic globalism.

Keep in mind that the dollar isn’t just US currency, it’s also the world’s reserve currency. So it seems silly to drop the value of the dollar just so it matches Canadian and the Peso. Besides, when the EU and Euro were formed, I doubt they dropped the value of whatever was highest to give the little guy a fair shake.

If one must worry, there’s plenty of other crap to worry about.

^GA.

I couldn’t think of any circumstance that the US would drop the value of its currency, either. And there is quite a disparity between the dollars and Peso. I thought one of the reasons why the UK stayed out of the EU was because the GBP was worth more than the Euro was going to be worth. Anyone know anything about that?

@mrentropy I can’t believe some of them are sold out.

I think your son needs to get back on his meds.

It’s his father, my ex, filling his head with “crap.”

I had to laugh at the thought of Canadian illegals! I’m sure there are some, no movies about us like that?! What would our queen have to say about ameros? Whose picture is biggest?

It is the new currency proposed by the Illuminati, the Knights Templar, and the Freemasons.

@mrentropy Yes, and I can probably find you plenty of sites where you can buy real wooden nickles.

It’s just another hoax to derail the soft-headed from the real problems this country has.

@Espiritus_Corvus I was being facetious. And I already supplied that link to the Snopes article.

I bought into the hoax at first too. I did find a place online to buy one for my hubby’s coin collection though.
