Siberia Seabed Leaks Methane, Threatens Climate, Scientists Say. Who will tell Siberia it's just an Al Gore hoax?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) March 5th, 2010

That darned Al Gore has gone and done it again! He has somehow fooled the icy seas of Siberia into believing they are warming up, and now 7 million metric tonnes of methane gas, a greenhouse gas 25 times more potent than CO2, is bubbling up from the seabed each year. He’s fooled glaciers all over the planet into receding too. What a convincing liar he must be. He has even conned the ancient god, Poseidon into turning on the fountains of the deep, causing global sea levels to rise.

And he tricked global temperatures into shooting up as well. November 2009 set an all time record for the warmest November since records were kept, and January 2010 was the warmest January. It was cold and snowy in some areas, but far warmer than usual in most others. He almost ruined the Winter Olympics by tricking the weather in Vancouver, Canada to be in the 50s and rainy.

Since Al Gore is such a convincing liar he can even control nature, why don’t we pay him off to convince the US economy everything is wonderful, unemployment is just 2% and the average family of four is awash in money? Surely if he can convince ice shelves the size of Rhode Island to break off of Antarctica and head for New Zealand, he can convince the economy to rebound as well. We all know facts have nothing to do with controlling the future, spin is the only truth.

Well, there is a lot if investment in believing there is no global warming. A lot less action has to be taken. A lot less profit has to be lost. A lot fewer curbs on the activities of oil companies and other polluters.

The same guy that’s gonna tell him that the Arctic ice cap isn’t really melting, the polar bears aren’t really dying, and the glaciars aren’t receding…...

Some people don’t let facts interfere with their theories.

What are you, a dirty liberal or something?

It would be inconvenient to tell the truth,I guess.

psst. we have technology that influences the weather. some would argue that our temperature data is influenced by selective positioning of thermometers in warmer climes.

We need to tap that methane and burn it as a fuel. Methane has four times the greenhouse effect of carbon dioxide.

@marinelife As Upton Sinclair wisely noted, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

@FutureMemory Thanks. You made my day!

@stranger_in_a_strange_land Actually, that’s a great idea. Methane is 25 times as bad in greenhouse effect as CO2 and it burns cleaner than oil.
