Are these the best shoes mass produced?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) March 7th, 2010

I buy Ecco Men’s Track Gore Tex low tops, and only these shoes because of their excellent and unchanging look, durability, waterproofing, and unfathomable comfort. Are there any mass produced shoes that live up to these standards that you have worn? If I could find better I would be amazed, and happy to upgrade.

Its hard to buy a pair of shoes today thats not Made in China. i am not familiar with this brand of shoes, but if you are happy with them, then thats all that counts.

I love the Ecco like no other. I’ve basically worn a pair of Ecco loafers at least 5 days a week for the past 2 years. Best shoes I’ve ever owned and worth every penny.

I also wear the loafers…ultra best.

I have a pair of the loafers that I can’t part with that I’ve had for at least 4 years now.

I searched that shoe, and it looks like they are oxfords? I have a Gore-Tex jacket and it does not breath as well as other materials, but obviously the waterproofing quality is awesome (although some people will argue that eVent is better – I’ve never tried it, I’m not sure). How is the breathability of that shoe? I guess it depends what the intended function is. I know a lot of people that swear by Montrail shoes for day to day stuff. My bf has a pair and loves them for comfort. But I guess if rain or snow is a major problem then Gore-Tex could come in handy. Here it is always super humid and hot and sunny so Gore-Tex could be a problem.

Birkenstock, Born, and Naot. Highly recommend zappos BTW.

@lilikoi I work in these things all day, day in day out, standing. They might be warmer than a pair of tennis shoes, but I find that the comfort by far outweighs any heat that might exist. If it happens to rain, you feel unstoppable. Here it rains much of the year.

For comfort I like my Sanuk‘s. These are the “beer cozy” shoes.
