Have you ever had your vehicle repoed?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) March 14th, 2010

I never have and never will, but i am wondering how many people have actually had the repo man come and tow their vehicle away? did you have an altercation or was the repo made quietly without physical violence?

My buddy is a repo man. He rarely has altercations. If he suspects one, he calls the cops and leaves on the rationale it isn’t worth it.

No, I never have, and never will, but
my neighbors did once. That was a scary and satisfying situation all at the same time.
They were irresponsible, drug dealing thieves. The repo guy was frightening and loudly spelled out why he was taking the vehicle, for all to hear.
They cowered in their home the one they never paid a dimes rent on and never came outside while he (repo guy) was there.
I was glad that they were getting away with one less crime and was hoping for the eviction guy next.

@john65pennington You will be very lucky if it does not happen to you. I have had it happen. When we lost our store and were forced to declare bankruptcy, we lost our car. It was quite uneventful really.

No.. But I was threatened by Ford credit when I was late a few months while I was experiencing unemployment. I only had 2–3 payments remaining in a 5-year loan. So much for brand loyalty!

I am thinking of the scenario of having the repo guy or woman come and take the vehicle away against my will.
If I was about to have my car repossessed I guess that I would go to the lender and just hand it over. Still not a good situation, but honest and more honorable.

Thankfully, no. I don’t know anyone who has either but most of my friends have their parents old cars that were paid off long ago.
