What digital camera do you recommend for taking pictures of fast moving objects?

Asked by JLeslie (65408points) March 14th, 2010

My husband runs his car around the racetrack, and the camera I have now has too much of a delay, I almost always miss the shot.

Luckily, or unluckily, my camera has been acting up, and it might be time for a new one.

Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions.

You might benefit from a camera that has a Continuous Frame Shooting mode, where the camera takes 3 pictures per second. So, as your husbands car comes around the track you can start shooting ahead of time, and at least one (probably several) of the pictures will have the car in the position you want it in. If you couple this with a tripod, the shots should come out great. I’m not sure about other brands, but I know this function comes pretty much standard on Nikon SLR cameras.

I use a Kodak 10mp,

It also has the 3 pics per second setting, and a continuous setting that will take 5 frames per second as long as you hold down the shutter. You can also take video and view it one frame at a time

I use a Canon Rebel XT. It has contiuous shooting and I am able to mess with the f-stop and shutter speed.

Why is Chuckie’s avatar connected to JLeslie? Did I miss something this afternoon.Has April 1 come and gone without my noticing?

@gailcalled We pulled a little prank on Chuckie today, and many users switched their avatar over to his for a few hours.

Forget megapixels. Powerful large lens do matter, allowing for optimal shutter speeds and aperture.
