how can I add some flair to my graffiti?

Asked by xacrox (243points) March 6th, 2008 from iPhone

I haven’t been satisfied lately with what I’ve been drawing. What are some ideas to add a little flair?

I love graf that takes stuff from art history. Research cubism and impressionism and factor them in in your own special way.

copy pasting the URL should work, rather than clicking on it.

Use light to influence your work. Work upside down, draw it wrong then correct it, work drunk.

Do jail time for defacing public/private property and ask Bruno when you two are making out.

Do something you’ve never done before. Many writers try to be hardcore and slick. I say get cute and messy. Throw in some soft pink and blue. Draw some flowers and trees in there, maybe some bunnies. Make a bit of a mess (but a controlled, deliberate mess) Sounds lame but you’ll be surprised. Anything you draw that’s outside your normal repertoire will teach you something.

On the topic of cubist writers, check out Delta – that’s who Daim lifted some of his ideas from. You’ll also probably enjoy the work of Joker and Ouija from the Transcend Crew.

Obligatory Kase quote:
“People look at a person and be like, ‘What? You write on trains,’ and, ‘You vandalism,’ and all that. Yeah, I vandalism alright, but still in general, I know what I’m doin’. I did somethin’ to make your eyes open up, so why is you talkin?”

@cardinal: I never once stated I graffitied public/private property. That just shows your ignorance to the art.

@paulc: thanks for the great advice, I’ll see what I can come up with.

@delirium: I’ll see if I can view it later when I’m not on my phone. Thanks.
