How do I put a background behind Photoshop on a Mac?

Asked by silverfly (4055points) March 19th, 2010

I have Photoshop open, and as much as I love my desktop background, I’d rather not see it while I work.

Is there a way to put a solid color background in Photoshop to “hide” my Mac desktop?

Hit the letter “F” (full screen) to toggle three different sizes background.
I think twice fills the screen to gray and three times makes it black.

Hmm, not quite what I’m looking for… I still need to see the “handlebars” for each document window.

Try selecting Window—> Application Frame.

It looks like this.

Then you can just maximize the window.

Look into Backdrop. Should be what you want. If not, try Think.

@johnpowell I’d give you 5 great answers if I could. That did it! Thanks.

or, just download a solid color large photo, and when you want to use it for background, open prefs, choose “desktop & screensaver” and choose your download. takes just a sec, and just a sec to change back when your done.
