How can I record the "wave out" audio in Windows Vista?

Asked by J0E (13172points) March 23rd, 2010

What I mean by “wave out” is the sound you hear from your computer, recording a Skype call for example.

The problem is that I don’t have the options that I should have when I go to the Recording tab in the Sounds box. The only two options I have are Digital Mic and Microphone/Line In. Forums are telling me to right click and choose Show Disabled Devices, I have done this and I don’t get any more options.

This is very frustrating, has anyone else had this problem and maybe some solutions?

Your sound card probably does not have the feature you are looking for. Is your sound card integrated with the motherboard or is it an add-on board. Typically, integrated sound cards are lacking in advanced features.

@njnyjobs It’s a laptop, so yeah it’s integrated.

Audacity will allow you to record anything that can be played through you speakers.
