If I get a new phone, can I still use my iPhone?

I’ve had my iPhone for a year and three months, and my parents said I can get a new phone if I pay for it.

I want the new motorola backflip, but I was wondering, when I switch my phone, can I still use the iPod and all the apps on my iPhone? like will it still function even when it’s not being used as a phone? thanks:]
