The cat next door will eat my dogs food, but my dog hates the cats food. what gives?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) March 30th, 2010

I thought that cats were finicky eaters. not so, according to the two cats i am feeding with dry dog food. each morning, they come into my yard and finish off any leftover dry dog food, not eaten by my dog. my dog would never eat cat food, so whats up with these two cats?

Cats are mean – they love putting one over on dogs. Our cat will hide the dog’s treats, even though he doesn’t like them himself. Our dog will eat anything, especially loves any of the cat’s leftovers. If the cats in your case are strays, then they are not so fussy – survival comes first.

DarkScribe, good answer. they are not strays, they belong to my neighbor. you have a point about cats playing tricks on dogs. my dog is on a leash in the yard. the cats know exactly how far his leash will stretch. they will sit at this safe position and paw at my dog. they know he cannot stretch his leash any farther and they intimidate the heck out of my dog. its really funny to watch them in action.

Your dog has probably had a run-in with the cats and has learned his lesson not to mess with their food.

Cats are the most evil and most fitlthy animals alive. Believe it or not cats will eat any kind of food like dog food or cat foot etc. Most cats are gluttoness pigs who will eat any food they can get in there mouths. I dated a girl one time that had a cat. It was the most evil animal I have ever met. It would gorge itself on food and then lick itself for a while. After that it would start hacking and run from in the kitchen on the tile onto the carpet and throw up on the carpet on purpose. It would also get in its litter box and kick litter out on purpose. This cat would get in the litter box just to kick litter out and not even go to the bathroom. I will never own a filthy evil cat or date another girl that has one. Besides Im allergic to cats.

@jbran

I take it that you are not fond of cats? (I picked on that from a few little clues – I am clever that way.)

Lol. No I am not fond of them because of the bad experiences I have had with them. Another thing that I did not mention about those evil nasty little animals is that they tear up perfectly good furniture for no reason. Having a scratching post for them does no good. They prefer furniture for some odd reason. Then there is the cat hair that gets on everything and gets everywhere. It gets on furniture, on the floor, on the walls, on the bed, in the air, in the car/truck whatever you drive. I would find cat hair in my truck and I have never had a cat in my truck. I could go on and on but I have done alot of that already.

You missed the most important negative – God doesn’t like them either, they are the only common animal not mentioned in the Bible. (I like our cat though – he is a great little guy. Probably because he thinks that he is a dog.)
