Whatever your nationality & assuming you know or even care,Which political party do you think will emerge victorious & will the next Prime Minister actually have the balls to refrain from fawning over the US President?

Ugh, I’m American and I can’t stand the way Obama has acted. He’s an embarassment.

Captain_Fantasy's avatar

Is Obama really being that demanding of the UK?
It was during the GWBush admin that Britain officially became America’s bitch on the political stage.
Blair was a yutz.

@ThrallKiller

I was never a fan of the man, but with the way the House and Senate have acted, I am about thisclose to nominating SuperNanny for President.

Yeah, I don’t think the question is really who will be Obama’s puppy, but who can lead Britain out of the mess they’re in. I suspect the Tories will get in because there is wide dissatisfaction with the current government, but as to who would actually do the best job, I don’t know.

We recently had a report in this.

The MPs’ report says Britain should take a ‘hard-headed’ approach to Anglo-American special relationship – a term coined by Winston Churchill in 1946 – and stop assuming that the priorities of the two nations will always coincide.

‘The UK needs to be less deferential and more willing to say no to the US on those issues where the two countries’ interests and values diverge,’ the report says.

Both Labour and Tories have been subject of great embarrassement, so they both have lost lots and lots of trust from the electorate.
But still one of them is probably going to be the biggest (can’t see the LibDems win it), although they both deserve in my opinion to be decimated.
So, my guess would be Labour.
Another guess: not Brown.

ThrallKiller's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr LOL I agree. At this point, I would rather see what Ron White or Jeff Foxworthy could do in office.

ucme's avatar

@Scooby Yeah that’s looking distinctly likely, although the tories are on a bit of a wobble of late.

Seek's avatar

@ThrallKiller

Waitaminit… Lewis Black. Now there’s a nominee. I’d even take Jon Stewart.

ucme's avatar

At present most polls forecast a hung parliament with no party gaining overall control.So the Lib Dems may have the last laugh in a manner of speaking.

ThrallKiller's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr Hmmmmm. Larry the Cable Guy.

goootli's avatar

Personally I’d hope the Lib dems win, but it seems as if the Tories with win with a minority government which means they’ll likely hold another election like in 74 until an overall majority wins.

love the tags ‘sit up’ and ‘beg’ ahhahahah

ucme's avatar

Thought i’d clarify one point,this is not about Obama other than he’s the current sitting President.More about consistently fawning Prime Ministers deferring to their US counterparts.This can be traced back to Thatcher & Reagan & beyond.

ucme's avatar

@TheOnlyException Roll over beethoven!!

Whoever the BNP’s candidate is.

As long as that smug toff David Cameron loses, I’m happy.

One could have guessed that @ThrallKiller would object to Obama. I’m proud to disagree with everything he has said so far on Fluther.

“fawning over the U.S. president” do you mean like Tony Brown did? Frankly, as an American I was embarrassed by both of those “leaders: One was supposed to be liberal, the other conservative and both claimed to be born again Christians.

I personally think they let their religion do the thinking for them. Actually Bush needed a “thinking aide” I thought Blair should have been smarter. It turns out that he was as sneaky and stupid as his buddy. I hope that England gets an independent and progressive Prime Minister, I doubt, though, that they will.

goootli's avatar

@Ron_C
“like Tony Brown did” Was that meant to be a joke? And the same with “hope that England gets an independent and progressive Prime Minister.”

ucme's avatar

@dpworkin I strongly suspect he will,if so i’d advise a sick bucket at close quarters.When he meets Obama there will be a distinct shade of brown to his nasal area.

ThrallKiller's avatar

LOL, I’m curious to know how “one could have guessed that thrallkiller would object to Obama”. By the one question I’ve posted on this site so far, you think you know enough about me to judge what I stand for and what “one could guess” when it comes to politics? I find your statement equally hilarious and ludicrous. Stop flaming the newbie, okay?

Ron_C's avatar

@goootli Boy did I make a mistake, I meant Blair. It was supposed to be sarcastic and the misprint just made it stupid, sorry/

goootli's avatar

@Ron_C
And The UK not England.

mammal's avatar

look no one gives a fuck about british politics, it’s meaningless

janbb's avatar

@mammal I suspect the Brits do; what a narrow-minded thing to say!

goootli's avatar

@mammal
Millions of people in the UK would disagree with that statement.

Ron_C's avatar

@goootli again you are correct, England, Wales, and Scotland, the U.K. although some of the Scotsmen that I know aren’t too please about being part of the U.K.

goootli's avatar

@Ron_C
Don’t forget Northern Ireland. There are numbers of people in all these countries that would like to split from England and many more who would like to stay part of the UK. Personally I’d move to England if Wales ever split off, I may just move to England anyway.

Ron_C's avatar

@goootli your comment about “taking a hard headed approach” to U.K, U.S. relations would probably be good for both countries. I would especially like the U.K. to pull its troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Without its largest supporter, the U.S. is more likely to pull out of wars where no one can win.

UScitizen's avatar

If Obama gets to make the choice, it will be whomever Rham Emanuel tells him to choose.

dpworkin's avatar

Is that because Jewboys are smarter than Negroes, @UScitizen ?

goootli's avatar

@Ron_C
We have pulls our troops out of Iraq.

JeffVader's avatar

I’ve got to say that Obama has never appeared to be anything like the total nob-jokey that was Bush-the-retarded. & with Bush’s cock-cloth, Blair gone, I think the nature of the relationship has changed…. abit. So, I expect that once everything settles down that Gordon Brown will still be PM, however I’m expecting a hung parliament.

Whoever gets the job I guess nothing much will change, the rich will get richer & the poor will get poorer, immigrants will still be poring in, the police bill to keep them all in check will hit the roof, we’ll all be paying inflated taxes to cover the mess of the recession, politicians will give themselves a nice pay rise as well as giving themselves huge pats on the back as the country falls apart…… None of these people ever seem to deliver, they’re all just full of excuses & now Bullshit Blair is back on our screens!! What hope is there??? :-/

Sounds like some individuals’ descriptions of the situation in the US!

Obama doesn’t need puppies. He prefers to communicate with friends and colleagues at eye level. Besides, he got Bo.
