Why is my poop green?
The last few days I have been pooping a greenish color. I do not know what it could be from. I have been eating more green salads, maybe 4 in the past 2 days…perhaps it is from that. I am concerned because this is not a normal thing for me. I want to make sure there is nothing wrong here. I tend to hold my bowel movements for a longer period of time so maybe my body is finally telling me something? Any help here would be great! Thanks guys

When I was in college our fraternity’s cook made a meatloaf that gave everyone “the green shits” I shit you not.
Eating lots of green food can make your stool green.
However if you have had a change in bowel habit towards looser stool then the rapid transit of stool through the large bowel could also be the reason for the colour change. If it persists or you are having diarrhea go and see the doctor.
eating a lot of frosting could be the culprit.
Your bile stains it green. Diet will bring out the bile staining. It’s normal.

Don’t worry about it, and quit paying such close attention to your bowel movements. They can’t predict the future, and they are not really that interesting.
Either you have been eating a lot of green vegetables, have been taking some medications for which this is a common side effect or your liver is spilling bile.
The first one isn’t serious, either your body isn’t used to the good things you are feeding it or you are going overboard so stop. The second isn’t all that serious, just talk to your pharmacist about it if it bothers you. If it is the third, I suggest you talk to your doctor. If you noticed any coffee ground or tar like substances in your feces, I suggest you go to the ER immediately.
This is hilarious to me. When my oldest was about two she ran out of the bathroom all excited and said “I pooped a man, mom! I pooped a man!” And it looked like a torso and someone took a pastry bag with a much lighter color and added on arms, legs and a head. I had forgotten all about this, so thank you.
For some reason, blue icing in large quantities can actually make a turd look like a green crayon. Don’t ask me how I know this.
The more appropriate question is how many people post green poop questions on Fluther. I haven’t even been a jelly for very long and I’ve already seen two.

Blue food coloring (any soft drink that’s blue or purple will have this) cannot be digested, and will end up tainting the color of your poop.
i had a top gun birthday cake when i was a kid that was decorated as the logo…mostly navy blue icing. I pooed blue for 2 days…meh, you’ll be fine.
My son just freaked out about the same thing. He just turned 7, his cake had a lot of green on it…it was the food coloring. Sometimes things we eat affect the color of what comes out. He completely freaked when the water in the toilet bowl had a green color to it…we just kind of laughed!
My 6 year old daughter says it’s because you’ve been eating green stuff.
Great quantities of Boo Berry cereal can also cause this. Don’t ask me how I know that, either. :P
There’s this pub in New Jersey that serves the best hamburgers ever, and they serve a head of lettuce as an appetizer. After I eat there, my poop is green the next day.
