Is it possible to split up you iTunes library so that part of it is sorted by album and part by artist?

Asked by bezdomnaya (1440points) April 4th, 2010

I have some albums on iTunes where each track has a different artist (e.g. a soundtrack album) and some tracks from the same artist but different albums (e.g. 5 songs by The Cardigans from 3 different albums [yes, including Lovefool cause I’m a dork]).

I want to be able to see all of the former together and all of the latter together, but it seems like I can only sort by one or the other (i.e. Album Title or Artist). Is there any way to get around this?

Yes, They are called “smart playlists”.

Smart playlists allow you to sort however you want to sort. I have nearly 5000 songs on my iPod and I would be lost without the use of them.

Media Monkey allows you to create virtual libraries from any tag in your metadata.
