Wouldn't be nice if Fluther had some sort of nicely structured archive so you could recall interesting information picked up in the course of discussion without having to remember whole phrases accurately for the search engine?

During my first week or so here @cyanoticwasp said something about how all these conversations just sort of disappeared into a memory hole or something? [If I could find the comment I would quote it} I am littering up my computer with all these random little text files to save thoughts or links I like [and the bon mots] but always there’s one I remember but didn’t save and can’t find. This really is quite a group and I learn a lot.

Google provides pretty good tools. I don’t generally have to recall exact phrases.

@dpworkin you mean this search engine on fluther is google-powered? Or straight googling outside of fluther?

I always wanted a “favorite” feature, where you can snip questions and comments for revisiting.

@Grisaille love it!! I wonder how much storage it would eat up on fluther.

Yes, I do. I can rarely find a relevant question when I look for it.

I couldn’t agree more! In the course of discussions, I often recall old discussions, and even when I CAN recall exact phrases, Google returns either nothing, nada, zilch, zip, zero; or returns hundreds of results (even when I search on site:www.fluther.com) that it’s impossible to find what I’m looking for. What I really need is a way to search for a phrase from ONLY among answers that I’ve posted—or, better yet, search for a specific phrase from among all answers posted by a specific user.

I just stopped following something something about 2d and 3d computer design and had a large part of the question in memory then changed my mind and wanted to follow again but when i typed it into the search engine I got nothing even remotely related. Something is really not working well here.
@HungryGuy I agree that I would like to have a way to limit my search to only those threads I’ve posted on [or left a GA GQ on] because the thing I saw would be there and it would concentrate the search.
I also like the Favorites idea @Grisaille posted. Surely there are ways

@anartist If you just stopped following it go to your account click on external view (I think that is what is called) and then go to all of your answers (assuming you made a comment) and you can find it that way.

I’d just like Fluther to have a decent search feature. The one we have now really sucks.

I’d love to have a ‘favorites’ feature, too. Good idea, @Grisaille!
