What is the true dilemma between the king of the castle and the dirty rascals?

Asked by cytonic_horus (429points) April 6th, 2010

Are we here to ask and share opinions or simply flex our intellectual muscle? The true intellect uses their fountain of knowledge built over time while those amongst groups who are more pseudo-intellectuals sit surrounded by wikipedia or making nonsensical comments in discussions that in reality leave their brain in a muddle.
What is it amongst pseudo intellects to partake in discussions well outwith their capabilities?

Is it a desire to feel wanted? A wish to have giant brainy testicles to match the true intellect? (Talking of testicles I thought yesterday was international foreskin day with the number of discussions)

Why are they willing to make any kind of comment in order to just get their nose in even if it is merely to say I agree? Is it to merely be seen by others to have had some form of input in order to massage egos?

intellect is true intelligence, intellectual is one who goes on about learned stuff while pseudo intellectual is one with fake intelligence hence the question.

Why does the pseudo-intellect act as such? what is behind their actions?

I remember the delicious indulgence I felt when I was studying for my degree. I was so in love with my subject I spouted science to any hapless listener whether they wanted to know or not. All my subjects’ statistics, data and sample data would roll off my tongue. I debated beautifully, but only in my subject of course. Mind you I had two majors so I was doing OK. This is a prime example of my intellectual ostentatious nature. When I grew up and became a big girl, applied science to life took a bit of assimilation and being able to apply to life in general formed not only part of crystallized intelligence but some degree of intellect. Meaning we can all be clever in our chosen subjects. I have seen pseudo intellects that tout prolific literature of various sorts (word for word like idiot savants) and fling catch phrases about in order to sound awfully intelligent. Intelligence is a funny thing; we are only really naturally intelligent until we are around 16 the rest is experienced learning. I like to think I have acquired general wisdom. I was also much honored after doing a short test for Mensa to be invited to do the full test, however, I declined based on the premise that, I would always like to think I am really clever rather than know I am really not.

I think yes, there are the intellectual muscle flexors in many answers. To me I just prefer to speak from the heart, whatever that many mean. Why? Because I care.

@cytonic_horus Ah, I see. And how do you specifically go about telling one apart from the other.

You can’t be right and be gone at the same time, as long as you are alive, because there’s no follow through once our faith is gone. I will miss you, Justine.

Bow and kneel before the Queen of the castle, you dirty rascal. The difference is that I took a bath and you did not, hence the title. Run along you rascal, you!
