Why did the Daily Show take their videos off Hulu?

Asked by silverfly (4055points) April 8th, 2010

You can’t watch the Daily Show on Hulu anymore. It redirects you to thedailyshow.com. Is this just for advertising control?

I’m still waiting for a call back from Jon Stewart. I’ll keep you posted.

the contracts they signed with the writers last year asked for a part of the profit from online viewing. the easiest way to monitor this is thru their own site.

I was told they don’t show it any more because Comedy Central was complaining they don’t get enough money from the advertising on Hulu.

Now that it’s not on Hulu anymore, I completely forget to watch it, even though I’m absolutely in love with Jon Stewart. Last I watched it I think was around March 16.

@Sarcasm I still actually go to hulu first and click on the videos. The quality is still just as good. I can’t miss the show. :)

I’ve been missing it too, along with the Colbert Report. I really don’t know why I haven’t clicked on Comedy Central’s site, guess I’m just weird.

@silverfly Oh yeah, the quality is fine. It’s just an issue of out of sight, out of mind. I go to Hulu for all of my other shows. I just kinda forget about the existence of shows that aren’t available on Hulu.
