Hair products for MCS sufferers?

Asked by mayratapia_ (371points) April 12th, 2010 from iPhone

I’ve heard about people with MCS, or Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, and I was wondering what hair products they can use? I have eczema and have had trouble finding gel because so far they irritate my skin. I figured, if there IS hair product for people with MCS, I can try that. So if you know of any products or homemade products that are MCS friendly, please share(:

Try adding 1 teaspoon of unflavored gelatin to a cup of warm water, and using that as regular gel. You can keep that in the fridge for up to about a week.

No chemicals, no smell, just hold!

@Seek_Kolinahr, couple questions, does this leave your hair sticky & does it come out easily in the shower?

It washes out just fine, and it’s not sticky at all after it dries. ^_^ Sometimes, just for fun, I like to add glitter to it.

Growing up, before hair products were invented, I used a T. of lemon juice in a cup of warm water for a conditioner, lightener.

I don’t know. But my daughter had severe eczema of the scalp and used DHS Shampoo. So far we have only found it sold in walgreens but it works great. It helped get rid of the eczema on her scalp in about 2 months. And it didn’t irritate her skin at all. link
Hope this helps. She used the Zinc shampoo one.
It also didn’t dry her hair like so many other shampoos do.

@Pandora, that’s what I use! Actually, I use the DHS clear. It’s absolutly great on my scalp. I also use a product by Neutragena called T/Sal. It reduces build up &since i’m using Vaseline in my hair as gel, which BTW is a BIG FAIL, it cleans up my scalp &hair efficiently(:
