Where could I buy a replacement license plate light cover for my 2001 Chevy Tahoe?

Asked by Rv654321 (228points) April 14th, 2010

The left chrome License plate light cover on my car managed to some how fall off. These little covers are located on the back bumper and spotlight the licenses plate on either side. The light bulb and socket are still attached..I haved searched online but have had no luck finding a site where I can purchase this part.

Any auto store like Shucks or Auto Parts will have one. You could probably even find one at Home Depot.

If all else fails check your local Chevy dealer.

You could check some local salvage yards too.

My SO and I bought a lot of truck parts from this company. We’ve never been unhappy with them.

No one has suggested a junkyard? That’s the first place to head for nickel-and-dime items like this every time. In a lot of places they’ll even let you wander around with your own tools, find and remove what you need, then pay for it on the way out.

I found the lenese cover on that link you provided..thanks!

@CyanoticWasp They aren’t called junkyards anymore, they are called salvage yards.

@CyanoticWasp Can’t have real junk yards here anymore. You can’t go into the yard unless you work there, too much liability. Now they are salvage yards. They have to have an employee pull the part for you.

There are some used car part yards that are U-Pull, or Pull it Yourself, but they are specifically designed for easy, safe access.

Your dealer would probably have them. I have pretty much given up on the internet when it comes to finding vehicle parts.
