How can I fix IE?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) April 17th, 2010

I tried using proxy software to get past megavideo’s time limit, and it didn’t work, so I uninstalled. Now IE wont connect to the internet, and when I diagnose problems it says the remote device won’t accept or something like that. Please help fix this!

Try downloading the IE again and reinstalling it.

I tried disabling it and re-enabling it, which Microsoft says is the same but it didn’t work.

Most of the time I’ve dealt with any sort of proxies, I’ve had to manually reconfigure my stuff to connect to the ‘net and then I had to manually reconfigure it again when I changed/uninstalled proxies.

Sounds to me like you need to dig around in the Tools menu. Uninstalling generally leaves the settings intact somewhere like the Registry so re-installing often winds up using the same settings that screwed things up in the first place.

i finally got it. I tried looking through the site and I think it’s a load of bull, because the contact info and online help links were nothing. It was called proxyway. I found a delete from all your browsers button or something simmilar and now it’s working fine.
