How do I find out where an 1.1.123.333 address comes from?

Asked by maggiesmom1 (637points) April 18th, 2010

I’m trying to find out where a comment on my blog came from since they used a fake email address & name. I’ve got the IP address, but I’m not sure where to find out the origination.

Throw it in here like @dpworkin suggested. It’s not always accurate, but it should give you a general idea of where the IP came from.

1.1.123.333 is not a valid IP address.

Sometimes IP search engines like whois and geobytes can be off by a thousand miles, so don’t take it as dogma.
They say I am in San Jose, which is only 65 miles off.
