not sure about the process but be aware it is very difficult and expensive. only do so if you have no other options

I don’t believe that is the case these days. My husband self-published a book in December and we haven’t been out a huge sum of money. Esp. with the ebook format.

There are lots of places to go for this information on the Internet.

It is not so expensive to self-publish using a service that prints each copy only as it is ordered. However, some people have had poor experiences with those outfits.

Few people are really able to do a good job at writing and also handle editing, book design,* proofreading, cover design, etc., all by themselves. I wouldn’t try it, and I am an experienced writer and a very good editor with a decent working knowledge of typography and book design and some degree of artistry in my sense of graphic layout and design. People are simply not the best judges of their own work, and few have capabilities in all the many aspects of making a book. I could get someone to help me with a cover, but I wouldn’t take my own work out there unedited even though I have more than 30 years’ experience as an editor myself. If you don’t take care of the words, all the rest is just window dressing.

My friend works for fastpencil and he’s helped lots of people publish books. They have different options for people. You can invest as little or as much as you want. He’s a graphic artist and production manager, and helps with design and page layout, as well as some editing. The important thing is to write a great book and get a bar-code on that baby!

To self publish first you need to develop a story idea and lay it on paper. After you think your story has all the components a good story needs you edit it, and then revise. After that browse the internet and find a self publishing company that fits you. Hope this helps.

blurb.com site and many like it offer a way to get your story out.
check these sites out.
Least expensive than getting a publisher, and hoping for someone else to purchase it.

Xlibris is not recommended. It is another name for Author Solutions, a known fraud.

Lulu.com is most recommended by authors, as is CreateSpace.com
