What should I expect to pay for an ear piercing?

Had my ears pierced when I was seven, but a tragic dodgeball accident left me with a shredded ear (that healed), and the complete lack of desire to have it redone.
17 years later, I’d like to wear some earrings again.
The idea of having my piercing done by some 18 year old girl at the mall with a gun that probably hasn’t been sterilised after the last 47 customers isn’t very appealing to me.
What should I expect to pay to have a reputable piercer do a simple earlobe piercing? What should I expect to pay for a decent pair of starter earrings – or does that matter at all?
