What would be some good slogans for secular-minded people?

Asked by Blackberry (31011points) April 23rd, 2010

The last question about the christian license plates made me start thinking: If I wanted a bumper sticker or something with some cool sayings, what would be some good ones? I don’t know if I would actually do this, but it’s something to think about.

Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness’ sake.

Don’t knock it until you try it.

Always wanted to put that on a bumper sticker and drive through Indiana.

I saw a bumper sticker a few weeks ago that just said “Shut up about jesus already!”. So…awesome…

@jfos Ok I just might consider that one….

I’m actually a fan of slogans that promote religious ideas in interesting and thought-provoking ways. For example:

Leviticus 25:45, Deuteronomy 20:10, 1 Timothy 6:1

Genocide is not a war crime… it’s God’s commandment!
Deuteronomy 13:11, 20:16, Joshua (all of it)

George Harrison wrote my pick:

Think for yourself.

Granted, he hadn’t meant that in a secular sense, but I like it.

Pastors should stick to herding sheep, and leave us humans alone.

Imagine there’s no heaven, and no religion too.

Here’s a bunch

Not really a slogan, but relevant:

… in the day-to day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. And the compelling reason for maybe choosing some sort of god or spiritual-type thing to worship—be it JC or Allah, be it YHWH or the Wiccan Mother Goddess, or the Four Noble Truths, or some inviolable set of ethical principles—is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive.
