Why do we equate sex with candy?

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) April 23rd, 2010

I was looking at the sex addict responses and a lot of them draw a connection between sex and candy. And then I got to thinking why we think along those lines. Candy is good, and sex is good, but when I want one I don’t think I’d be satisfied with the other. Or is it just me rambling away on a friday afternoon?

Maybe sex is like candy because most of us can’t have just one piece. I think we all like to experiment with flavors and such..

Oh – I don’t know one piece is usually enough for me if it is the right one.

Because in my bedroom at least we make sweet sweet lurrrve!!

I’ll take a guess. The sensations of orgasm and the pleasurable taste of candy both go to the same part of the brain that processes pleasure. I’m not a biologist, so I can’t tell you what chemicals or brain part are involved.

Because I like eating candy in the shower.

Because it’s hot, sweet and sticky.

@Trillian Nailed it. And they both melt in your mouth, not in your hands.

I’ve never equated the two but am familiar with a few songs so maybe there is something about candy and sexual awakening? Dunno. What I do know is I don’t like my sex mixed with candy or anything that smells or tastes like candy.

DarkScribe's avatar

I have never heard sex equated with candy. I can see no reason why anyone would do so.

gailcalled's avatar

I haven’t either.
