What little tip have you learned through trial and error that you didn't read somewhere or was told?

Asked by Pandora (32205points) April 27th, 2010

I recently discovered that to get rid of pillow face crease in the morning all you have to do is rub and pinch your face to increase your circulation and then wash in very warm water. This will help puff your face out and then wash with cold water. If the bags under your eyes are still puffy, hold a towel to your eyes and push firmly after the cold water rinse for about a minute.
What interesting home tip or beauty tip have you learned along the way that may seem strange but still works for you?

My sister introduced me to Jojoba oil for dry skin. It doesn’t leave a greasy flim that attaches itself to your clothes like massage oil does.

Coffee grounds are good for enriching the soil.

I can freeze milk so that the bottom ⅓ of the container doesn’t sour in the refrigerator.

An accidental cat poop on cement (garage floor) can be sprinkled with baking soda for easier clean-up.

If you shut your cat in the garage by mistake for four hours, tread carefully.

I like the milk one. I always have to throw milk out. Have to check out the jojoba oil. Good tip.
Knew the rest, but I’ve tried coffee grounds on my plants before and never noticed a difference.
Do you know how offen you have to add it?

@Pandora: I keep a large compost heap going all year long. From time to time, when I have a teen-aged male around, he turns it and fills several containers. I strew the stuff about in a cavalier fashion whenever the mood (and my back) strikes me. I have good luck with everything that the deer don’t eat.

I have found that gardening is more of an art than a science, but I grow only flowers and loot my sister’s vegetable garden.

I’ve also learned that using desitin on marks on scars will make them fade faster and that when using it on your face when you go to bed that your face will feel baby smooth in the morning.
Draw back is that the stuff may get on your hair and it doesn’t smell pleasant. However even your hair will benefit from the extra zinc. However best thing to do is wrap your hair up and wear a cap to bed when doing this. But great to do for a few days before an event where you want to look your best. Wash off with warm water and soap and follow with a cold water rinse.

Don’t have your mail order sex toys sent to your office. People knows what’s in dem plain brown wrappers.

Don’t use the term “plain brown wrapper” in a hip-hop club.

Sliquid is better than KY

Fresh mint can go in almost anything and make it better.
