What's your favorite wine to drink when you're enjoying alone time?

Asked by itscomplicated (203points) April 29th, 2010

My wine collection is a little skimpy right now and I need to restock. I prefer wines that are light and sweet. But, I’ll drink just about anything if it fits the occasion.

I’m planning on spending the weekend apart from my husband, so I’d like to go out shopping for wine tonight. Any suggestions?

I like to sip chilled Moscato or Riesling. Sometimes I’ll drink Pinot Noir. I’m working on a bottle of Merlot – a leftover from a Christmas party, not something I’d normally drink.

I am sort of a “Charles Shaw” person for average wine but if I was alone for a weekend I would most certainly as our resident wine expert @Breedmitch for suggestions.

Have fun treating yourself!

Sparkling wine or champagne. You may enjoy Mumm Napa Cuvee. When I get the special treat of alone time I also like to buy myself a new fancy champagne glass and strawberries to go with it.

A really nice Riesling does it for me.

Do you have a Trader Joe’s nearby? I love their wines. My favorite is a zinfandel called “Old Moon.”

California -Vi Sattui & Columbia winery Rieslings are good

New York – Herman Wiemer Winery is good

And I’ve never met a German Riesling I didn’t like.
