How come grocery stores carry refrigerated and non-refrigerated bagels ?

Asked by Pretty_Lilly (4660points) May 5th, 2010

I have always wondered: why supermarkets carry bagels in the bread isle and the refrigerated section?
Is there a difference in taste ?
*for some reason the ones in the bread isle are more expensive.

I notice a difference in taste. I definitely prefer fresh bagels to refrigerated ones (and to frozen ones for that matter).

I would guess they do it just to appease their costumers. I noticed they do the same thing with pudding. I never looked to see which pudding was more expensive.
