What is the best utility to recover and format a USB flash drive?

Asked by UScitizen (4306points) May 5th, 2010

USB flash drive has become unusable in XP. Windows sees it, but won’t read it or write to it. When I click on it in explorer: “Please insert a disk into drive X” response. I really don’t care about recovering data. I would simply like to get it into action again.

They are so cheap noe that its not worth the effort. Also if it failed once it may fail again when you do care about the data on it.

It sounds like it’s failed to me. If you bought it recently, you could return it. It may also have a warranty period.

Have you tried right clicking and pressing format?
