Middle School Schools Out Bash Ideas?

Asked by marmar789 (15points) May 6th, 2010

Hey! I’m considering letting my daughter have a schools out party with both boys and girls. She’s a teen in middle school. We have no pool in our backyard but we do have a basketball hoop and a sports court. She doesn’t want it to be a a bunch of ‘dumb’ scheduled stuff. Ideas anyone? Oh the thrills of being a mom of a teenage girl. :-)

Check into a rental of an above ground pool. Arrange for them to attend a local amusement park or such. We discovered that renting a room at a local hotel that featured an indoor pool was very popular with the teen crowd.

Water balloons, water ballon slingshots and supersoakers are fun at that age. Do a cookout and volleyball.

@YARNLADY gave a GA, but kick it up a notch and rent a room at a hotel with an indoor water park if there is one nearby.

Or if you want to stay at home, see if you can hire a sound system to play. Get pizza delivered if you don’t want to cook for the party. If it will be a large order, place it with the pizza place’s manager a couple days in advance.

I agree with the others, and if you can’t get an above ground pool, do what @PandoraBoxx said, throw in a DJ and some good music and you’re good ;)

Hire a Clown. No but seriously, I would just let her and her friends decide what to do. Basket ball, frisbee, video games, music, games, etc. But just make sure to have a lot of snacks :)

Family Fun magazine had some great ideas for turning your backyard into a waterpark. While some of these things might seem a little young, done on a slightly bigger scale, like lots of plastic piping, noodles and tubes, and let them build the water structure, things to make bubbles, soaker balls made out of cut up sponges, a whipped cream fight, etc., is still a lot of fun at that age.

Add music and food, and it’s good.
