Celebrated my football team winning promotion yay!!! Actually happened yesterday but understandably jovialities spilled over into today.Hic…ever so slightly drunk & quite tired now.

tedibear's avatar

If I can take the liberty of it being yesterday instead of today, then I will. (I see @janbb nodding from here!) I finally got to see “How to Tame Your Dragon”! What a fun movie! I suggest it, even if you can’t see it in 3D. Actually, the whole weekend was nice. We went away for our anniversary (and to avoid a family event) and it was terrific.

Sueanne_Tremendous's avatar

I removed about a hundred Buckthorn saplings and almost and equal number of thistle plants from my garden. I hate them both.

bongo's avatar

I absolutely blitzed my revision today. my arm is killing from writing so much but I feel really proud with the work i have accomplished. good day.

Draconess25's avatar

@tedibear I loved that movie! See? Not all dragons are bad!

I bought butter. All we had in the house was margarine (ugh).

I just got done eating some nice yummy toast!

BoBo1946's avatar

Had lunch with my Mother!

janbb's avatar

My good friend is back in town!

I….

I…....

Well, I got a few layers of liquid latex on the molds that are at that part of the process, and started working on the clay model of what will eventually become a Caprica-inspired pendant. (An infinity symbol, with “So say we all” etched within the band, cast from amber resin)

faye's avatar

I’ve gone back to lay on my superbed and am watching a movie with my daughter’s little dog. All kids checked in. It’s a rainy, cold day again as she pulls her blanky up All my seedlings are big and gorgeous, perennials are up, lettuce, broccoli growing.

aprilsimnel's avatar

I got three cupcakes at the Oprah “Live Your Best Life” 1K walk today in Times Square. I was a volunteer recycling monitor, so technically, I shouldn’t have gotten any cupcakes. 2 chocolate, 1 vanilla. Score!

Jennifer Hudson has lost a great deal of weight. I’m sure you were all dying to know that.

deni's avatar

I just drank half of my mom’s Mother’s Day gift: A bottle of Sangria!

timtrueman's avatar

I got a personal tour of a bunch of robots and other projects at MIT and interviewed one of the first female navy fighter pilots who now runs one of the laboratories at the school.

Words cannot properly express the excitement I had.

Draconess25's avatar

I’m also eating my mom’s other Mother’s Day present: A box of fancy cookies!

BoBo1946's avatar

@faye and @aprilsimnel hey, on Meta, can i say thank you and have a great day? If you can’t, thank you and have a great day anyway!

faye's avatar

@BoBo1946 sure, and done deal.

loser's avatar

I brought my Mom flowers and gave her a card that made her so happy that she cried.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@BoBo1946, you’re welcome! You too!

SuperMouse's avatar

My amazing boyfriend gave me the best Mother’s Day ever today! He took me to a devotional get together, then out to sushi for lunch, then for a nice latte. He also gave me a travel coffee mug and a gift card for our favorite coffee place. I pick up those boys at 6:30 and I can’t wait to spend the evening with them!

Not to mention Number V version of this question! Wahoo!

janbb's avatar

@SuperMouse You have created your legacy here on Fluther!

jo_with_no_space's avatar

Things went really well with my boyfriend, and I feel more in love with him than ever :)

Coloma's avatar

Had a party Saturday yesterday. Went to a fundraiser for a childrens hospital where a good friends band was playing, then several more party stops on the way home and then hung out with a friend in the evening.

Celebrated mothers day on Friday as my daughter works today.

Today is cloudy and cold and I am still in my bathrobe at 3:30 pm watching a movie and eating leftover veggie pizza. A wee bit of a hangover. lol

Nice mellow Sunday. :-)

MissAusten's avatar

I had a lovely Mother’s Day with hubby and the kids, nice lunch with my in-laws, and a quiet afternoon. I also got my husband to agree to getting a doberman at some point in the future (he always gave a flat “NO” before…yay progress!).

myopicvisionary's avatar

I had a deep and meaningful conversation with a friend.

I qualified for summer nationals.

jonsblond's avatar

I have fun for the day and look what happens, a new thread with 30 responses already! :D

Today was a great day. I had a huge lemon poppyseed muffin for breakfast, went shopping for a new top, went to a great Chinese Buffet and tried frog legs for the first time, played frisbee and washers with my daughter, and I’m now sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows for s’mores and drinking Becks.

Congrats @chels and @toomuchcoffee911!

chels's avatar

@jonsblond Thank you ma’am. :)

SuperMouse's avatar

@janbb what is interesting is that I posted that question mostly because I wanted to brag about my jelly shirt! It never occurred to me what I might be starting! It pleases me to no end!

YARNLADY's avatar

We took our Mother’s Day dinner last week to miss out on all the crowd, and I enjoyed it completely. I have the two boys, as every weekend, but this was the first time I can remember they both went to bed at a reasonable time without the usual fussing.

chyna's avatar

I held a newborn pygmy goat. It was only a few hours old.

Draconess25's avatar

@chyna I wanna hold a little kid!

chyna's avatar

@Draconess25 You mean a baby?

Draconess25's avatar

@chyna Pygmy: Little. Newborn goat: Kid. Get it? XD Little kid!

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

I woke up and have successfully continued breathing in and out all day long. I wish I could say I accomplished anything or enjoyed something. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Kismet's avatar

For the 100th time my boyfriend put up with me enough to cool my paranoia down.
I was also offered a bunny and fed delicious Mexican food. :9
I also successfully did a good job of spoiling my mother today.

KatawaGrey's avatar

I had a lovely day with my mother. We had lunch at out favorite diner and then went on a shopping spree at Barnes and Noble. My mom was in what she calls a “money like water” mood which translates to, “Hey, you want that book? Throw it on the pile!” I tried to pay for my own books but she insisted that she buy them because she’s The Mom. Then we went back home and watched a couple Farscapes. All in all, a good day. :)

Jeremycw1's avatar

I spent 4 hours detailing my truck… it’s spotless and shiny!

Neizvestnaya's avatar

My mother sounded really happy on the phone when I told her none of her plants were dead yet since she left town.

versus

My boss told me he wants to promote my partner really bad. Yeah, we work in a kind of “try not to ask- everybody knows- don’t tell anyway” place.

Draconess25's avatar

@chyna <<spasm>> So cuuute!!!!

jeanmay's avatar

@chyna Is the goat yours? Very lovely!

I discovered this thread, and love it.

I ate English muffins, scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast, which is unusually decadent for a Monday.

I think I just managed to buy something from a Korean website with my Korean bank card, having lived here for almost two years! If I did, it will open up a whole new world of cheaper shopping for our family, hooray!

chyna's avatar

@jeanmay No, it’s my brother’s. They have 5 baby goats. So sweet!

bob_'s avatar

I had some banana ice-cream.

RedPowerLady's avatar

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day. We went to a salmon bake and I got to see family I haven’t seen in quite awhile. It was really nice.

Trance24's avatar

Today I got to spend time with my mother, go out to eat, and go to an AA meeting to support her in her on going sobriety of 3 years. It feels good to have a working relationship again. Love you mom!

janbb's avatar

I did 1½ hours of exercise this morning – water aerobics and zumba and have planted 4 flats of impatiens between yesterday and today. Still to come is a walk with a friend. Oh – my aching quads!

Seek's avatar

I took my son and his friends to the park, and watched my 21 month old stand up to two seven year olds with lightsabers. They taunted him, he replied “Raahrrr!”, acted like a tiger, then walked around them, and went down the slide.

Basically, he said “I’m scarier than you two. You’re boring”.

janbb's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr That’s awesome!

chels's avatar

I slept for 15 hours last night. I really needed it.

KatawaGrey's avatar

I feel so out of the loop. What will you be up to in Alaska @jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities?

chyna's avatar

@KatawaGrey He will be up to his eyeballs in cute Eskimo’s!

bob_'s avatar

And he’ll be able to see Russia.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

@KatawaGrey I’ll be partnered with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. We will be conducting soil surveys, vegetation mapping, and restoring damaged/destroyed wetland ecosystems.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Wow! That’s great! I hope you enjoy yourself, @jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities!

KatawaGrey's avatar

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities: That sounds amazing! Please, do keep us posted, I would love to hear of your adventures.

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities yay….you get to miss the snow that’s headed this way in the next few days…or so i’ve heard. HAVE FUN!!!

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Though I woke up in the early morning with bad dreams, after some time of being cuddled and loved by my partner I was able to fall asleep and dream of good things. I woke up at normal time with ring designs for my best friend’s gf :)

chels's avatar

@SuperMouse Woot! Thank you! :D

Draconess25's avatar

I cuddled with my girlfriends.

MissAusten's avatar

Tonight was taco night, and my tummy is happy. Now I’m going to put the kids to bed and watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and maybe eat an M&M cookie.

Also, today I ordered bug supplies for a summer of hunting bugs! A new collection box, pins, and a butterfly net. They’re for my son, really! Ordered a mantis egg case while I was at it, and can’t wait to release the little buggers into my garden. I don’t know who’s more excited, me or my kid.

Jude's avatar

I started packing for my trip to the Big Apple.

janbb's avatar

@jjmah Want an (almost) full report when you come back!

Aster's avatar

I received a terrific pair of Teva leather sandals in the mail and was so happy because my other ones were lost and these are like new.
Next, I discovered LOTS of new yellow blooms on my tomato plants. You can almost SEE those plants growing and I can’t wait to eat fresh tomatoes and peppers. Each day I have new baby tomatoes and want to learn to make green tomato relish.
I felt happier today than usual. I kissed and cuddled our white bichon then put her to bed.

augustlan's avatar

I slept at night! I fell asleep around 7:30PM… unheard of!

aprilsimnel's avatar

I finished the first draft of a TV show I’m writing.

janbb's avatar

A woodpecker was eating at my birdfeeder this morning.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

I woke up to my partner planting soft kisses all over my face before he left for work. I’m like a kid, I can’t get enough of that snuggly stuff!

Cupcake's avatar

I got my grades for the semester (As!), only have 1 year of grad school left, my hubby was especially supportive yesterday (I won’t derail the thread with the sad things…) and I slept all night (thank you Ambien).

Aster's avatar

Nothing great has happened today. The End.

Jude's avatar

After a long day of being wet and cold from the rain, I’m home now enjoying a hot coffee with Bailey’s.

Seek's avatar

@jjmah – that is an excellent idea. Gods, I can’t wait until my hubby’s done with class so I can join you in that coffee.

Jude's avatar

Liquid gold, that Bailey’s, @Seek_Kolinahr. Liquid gold. :)

I’m heading to New York City, Friday. Who’s coming with me?

chyna's avatar

@jjmah I would love to. I’ve never been.

Jude's avatar

@chyna It’s my favorite place on earth. Hopefully, one day you’ll get to go..

Seek's avatar

Haven’t been there in 15 years. Someday I might make it back there.

MissAusten's avatar

@jjmah If you decide to take a side trip to the CT shore, let me know! It’s only a couple of hours by train!

chyna's avatar

@jjmah If I ever do get to go, I will be sure to find out some of your favorite places to visit and see.

KatawaGrey's avatar

@MissAusten: You’re in CT??? Me too!!! @jjmah, if you’re visiting CT, come by and see me too!

deni's avatar

i’m about to eat LOBSTER. 3 cheers!

KatawaGrey's avatar

I’m in the process of going through mod training with augustlan! We’re taking a break and starting up again in about 2½ hours. YAAAAAAAY!!!

Wait, you get to see the CIA thread too? I am so jealous!

KatawaGrey's avatar

@chyna: I’m not at liberty to release that information.

MissAusten's avatar

@KatawaGrey You’ll make a great moderator, and I’m not only saying that because you’re a fellow citizen of the Nutmeg State. :)

jeanmay's avatar

The kiddy table and chairs that I ordered from the internet arrived, and this morning my son ate his breakfast on them with a smug little grin on his face! Aaah!

chels's avatar

@jeanmay That’s so adorable!

jeanmay's avatar

@chels He’s the cutest! Anything that makes him happy, makes me happy, even on a day like this!

chels's avatar

@jeanmay I love kids. They can always make you smile :).

Coloma's avatar

I made an appointment with a hypnotherapist for Thurs.
Time to get the on again/off again smoking monkey off my back.

I have done hypnotherapy before and am excited! My mind is very receptive to subliminal persuasion, put me in a deep, deep trance and tell me to just STOP this bullshit! lol

I figure 7 sessions @ $145 and hour is damn good motivation too!

Draconess25's avatar

I’m almost done painting my mom’s Mother’s Day present.

chyna's avatar

@Coloma Does the hypnotherapy work? Did you use it before for smoking or another reason? I have a friend that wants to try it for smoking but doesn’t know of anyone that has tried it.

Coloma's avatar

@chyna

I have used it for stress reduction, it’s awesome, amazing!

The more intelligent the best receptivity..not to toot my brainiac horn, but true.

You would think it would be the opposite, but no.

Tell your friend to go for it…it’s truly walkin’ on sunshine and getting past the conscious mind to the subconscious where it’s all shakin’ down. lol

It works, it is a great boost when you get stuck somewhere!

Coloma's avatar

@chyna
P.S.

It is best to utilize a psychologist with AAMH ( American Assc. of medical hypnotherapists )

CHT ( certified hypnotherapists) are okay..but for the best and most expereinced go for the PhD and AAMH certified.

chyna's avatar

@Coloma Thank you. I will pass this on to my friend. Good luck to you also!

jeanmay's avatar

Good luck @Coloma! I quit some years ago and have never looked back since.

chyna's avatar

I quit cold turkey 20 years ago. Best thing I have ever done.

jonsblond's avatar

@Coloma From your writings I can tell that you are a strong woman. You can do this!

It was letter person day today for my daughter’s kindergarten class. I made a cute Ms. Y costume for her, despite the fact that I’m not a crafty person at all. My daughter loved it and thanked me when I picked her up from school. made my day!

chyna's avatar

^^ great mom.

jeanmay's avatar

@jonsblond What is letter person day? Is that a dumb question?!

jonsblond's avatar

@jeanmay Meet the letter people. It’s a great program that helps kindergarten students recognize the letters of the alphabet. The kindergarten classes celebrate at the end of the year by dressing up as their favorite letter person. Not a dumb question! :)

@chyna awww thanks!

rangerr's avatar

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities You better not cheat and open those letters ahead of time! I’ll totally know.

Today I began training a little girl the cutest and tiniest 6 year old I’ve ever seen to become a trick rider on horses.
I was worried because of her tiny size that she would have problems with the horse I was using. She’s barely up to his stomach, but he’s the best horse to learn on.
She started out a little worried about the size difference, but as I was securing the saddle down, I heard her talking to the horse.
“Now, you listen here. I’m a lot littler than you. I would ‘preciate it if you didn’t eat me. Can we be friends?”

Once we got out to the ring, she hopped up on the horse and was smiling the entire time.
I showed her how to stand up on the horse, and then held her as she tried it on her own. I let go and she was standing there perfectly. She asked the horse to walk before I had a chance to stop her.

The horse started walking and she remained standing with her arms high above her head.
She didn’t need my help, and you could see how proud she was of herself.

Then something in the barn fell, and spooked the horse.
Alyssa the girl sat down and grabbed onto the horses mane. How she knew to do this, I have no idea. He reared and tried to get her off of him.
Meanwhile, she is still holding on and laughing her head off.
I ended up getting a horse hoof to the crotch as I was trying to pull her off the horse.

Not once during that event did she take the smile off her face.
She shows no fear.
She is braver than I probably would have been in that situation.
She asked to get “A BIGGER HORSE!” out to ride as soon as I got the first one calmed down.

I’m honestly expecting her to surpass any skill level I may have.
And I’m pretty sure that by the end of this summer, this girl is going to change my life.
Sorry this is so long.

Coloma's avatar

She sure showed a lot of presence thats for sure!

Wow though, I used to do vaulting and endurance riding, you sure that horse is a good fit for her?

Seems he’d be a lot more bombproof if you are using him with a novice child.

And he kicked you too?

Was the child wearing a riding helmet?

I won’t let children on any horse without a safety helmet.

bob_'s avatar

I saw two chicks making out. Man, I love the Internet.

Coloma's avatar

@bob_

lol…you are easily amused ey? haha

bob_'s avatar

Well, duh.

<- man

rangerr's avatar

@Coloma The horse is the best fit for her. He’s one of the only two horses on our ranch that have been trained as trick horses. The other one is a bit bigger and is temperamental with anyone but myself. He’s very calm and very good with kids. He’s not used to loud noises [it was a chain that fell from a shelf, so the noise echoed and was quite startling to myself as well as the other horses in the fields]. As for the kicking, I’m not sure what his deal was, but she was also telling him “good boy” as he was rearing after getting spooked. He reacts very well to praise and reward. He is a trick horse. And yes, she had a helmet on. Nobody but myself gets on a horse here without having a helmet on.

Seek's avatar

I lied to my husband.

He wanted me to physically drop off a letter to our credit union’s main office. I couldn’t find the road, and it was hot outside, and my car doesn’t have AC. My son was miserable, so I called him and said “They wouldn’t let me in, I called the receptionist and she said it’s not a public office.”

Then, the lady we’re dealing with called my husband and he talked to her.

Cue “holycrap!” feeling.

She told him that it’s not a public office, and the letter needed to be mailed.

Whew! How’s that for good luck?

Coloma's avatar

@rangerr

That makes sense, he is a trick horse as you mentioned, I’d imagine he is que sensitive.

My old foundation QH was an ex roper, very fast, he had a thing for jumping ditches and super quick takeoffs, I wasn’t comfortable putting many people on him, he was just too fast and squirrely for a beginner.

MissAusten's avatar

@rangerr Nice to have you back! I missed your horse stories, even though they make me insanely jealous.

This afternoon I went on a date with my hubba hubba hubby while the kiddos were at school! We went to see Iron Man 2 don’t be a hater. We ate Reese’s Pieces and popcorn, and got all excited over the previews. A Team, so we can relive our childhood, and The Last Airbender just because it was a kick ass cartoon! We decided we need to run away together more often.

Came home, frosted a chocolate cake for my father-in-law’s birthday, and are meeting my in-laws for Chinese later.

Coloma's avatar

Stunningly beautiful day here, heading out now to pick up some Blue Moon and sandwiches and have a little hang out with my good friend up the hill.

A pre-hypnosis party…haha

I am so excited about charging back into a non-smoking status!

Aster's avatar

The eye doc said I don’t need glasses-at all-except to read. No eye diseases, either. Let’s see….more tomatoes on the vines and the first ones are growing fast!

Draconess25's avatar

I just met a really cool guy online & we spoke about morbid stuff.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

My partner is taking me to see Iron Man ll in a few hours!

jeanmay's avatar

@jonsblond What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

Today I strained another batch of cold brew coffee, and I have nothing particular to do all day but sit and drink it!

Draconess25's avatar

And I bought a purple & a yellow Sharpie.

augustlan's avatar

@Draconess25 Sharpies make me ridiculously happy. Well, pretty much all new pens/pencils/markers do!

Coloma's avatar

Got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, sit down on toilet and am sitting on giant bath towel that somehow must have fallen off towel rack and into toilet. lol

Totally stuffed in toilet and fully soaked. Nice!

Dragging 20 lb. toilet water soaked towel out and fling it into shower. Grrrr…:-/

THEN..simultaniously hear commotion in garage, forgot to toss a bag of kitchen trash into can and left it on the landing of garage stairs.

Raccoon party going on, strewn everywhere and Raccoon face in kitty door.

Jeeez…nothing like a quick trip to the bathroom turning into 40 minutes of wackiness at 3 a.m. haha

Jude's avatar

I’m done work for the day, and early tomorrow a.m., I’ll be leaving on a jet plane for NYC. My girl and I are going to enjoy my birthday tomorrow in Greenwich Village. I’ll be munching on some Pizza at John’s.

rangerr's avatar

I am eating Reddi Whip for breakfast.
The can says “Before I go “Pphhffsstt”, the cow goes “Mooooooo”.

MissAusten's avatar

I am having a slice of the world’s best chocolate cake and a cup of coffee. :)

This morning I took my five year old to a garden store to pick up some flowers for the planters by our front steps. He collected all the “broken” flowers on the ground and gave them to me when we got home. My planters look nice, and I even had enough flowers left to fill up the hanging baskets on the deck which I forgot about when decided how many flowers to get. When my husband saw the planters, he actually noticed the flowers and complimented them. I’m thinking he might agree to going back to the garden store with me to pick up things to plant in some of the weed flower beds around the house. Preferably things that are hard to kill through neglect.

janbb's avatar

“School” is offcially over for the semester and the summer of janbb has begun. Went to water aerobics this morning and just took a walk to the beach. Now – if I can only get off Fluther, I will read my book for a while!

Aster's avatar

I ordered some Maca capsules and some Muscadine Grape Seed caps. Can’t wait to try both! And they got cherries in at the store. Now I have a fat free snack that I like.

Coloma's avatar

Had a great hypnotherapy appt. this a.m.

OMG..this therapists house! Amazing!

Mountain million+ retreat like place with a view to die for, gorgeous decor, ( the decorator in me was having a hard tome focusing on going back to the office and not poking around. lol )

Incredible guy, a PhD in psychology, Medical hypnoanalyst, Neuro-Linguistic programmer, metaphysics and theology degree…holy shit…talk about well rounded, AND, more degrees, JOD and I forget! lol

Spent an hour and half getting a throrough profile of this left handed, right brained type, and said I was a major green light candidate as I had no beliefs that needed to be challenged or re-programmed, in terms of negative self talk, lack of positive or spiritual grounding.

Put on the white noise wave music and man, I was goin’ down in no time, the heavy book in one hand, the string with the balloon elevating the other arm. haha

I was slumpoed over and damn near drooling on myslef in about 4 minutes. lolol

Today was a confidence building session and I left walking on air, totally zenned out and floating up the road. haha

At a stop sign I was jolted out of my trance hangover by some crazy Peacock or Guinea fowl in a yard that shreiked right next to me. A rude awakening. haha

Drifted around the grocery store in bliss and bought a flat of Strawberries and coolwhip.

Healthy treats for my afternoon nirvana zone.

Man….I could spend my life savings on this stuff, my love of mind altering experience is addictive in itself.

Can’t wait till next week!

rangerr's avatar

I got high.

chels's avatar

I designed and did this.

Coloma's avatar

@chels

Sharp! I love the color format…good job!

chels's avatar

@Coloma Thanks :) I’m still learning but so far I’m having fun doing it!

Coloma's avatar

@rangerr

High?

As in high on life, high on horses, high on hay..as in some fluffy green alfalfa flakes for you? lololol

chels's avatar

Oh also. I was in kind of a horrible mood in the middle of the day. One of those WTF IS WRONG WITH ME kind of moods, you know? That is until my love gave me hugs and said sweet things which of course I’m a sucker for and made everything better. :) Life is wonderful sometimes, huh.

rangerr's avatar

A nice combination of all of the above.

jeanmay's avatar

Today I did some housework before I sat down in front of the computer. Didn’t know I had it in me!

rangerr's avatar

I just found out that The LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act has been passed by congress.
It’s now waiting to be signed by President Obama.

My heart is incredibly happy to the point of me being in tears.

Over a year of non-stop lobbying and rallying has worked.
This is a historic bill, and a very crucial one for Africa.

This is seriously one of the best things that I have ever heard.

Q&A summary of the bill

zephyr826's avatar

@rangerr That’s wonderful!

Coloma's avatar

Allergies kicking my butt this morning…ugh!

BUT…going to Napa tomorrow for wine tasting with freinds and a Saurkraut festival of some sort. lol

All I know is it’s some kind of cabbage festival where they serve different dishes and you participate in a Kraut making class.

Should be interesting, Kraut tasting and wine tasting, something tells me it’s gonna be a really ‘loose’ day after! hahaha

Seek's avatar

Wow, @Coloma that sounds hella fun. I’m so jealous!

Yesterday, I was watching my girlfriend’s violent 2 year old son. He smacked my 1½ year old son in the face, for some stupid reason. My son rears back his hand like he’s going to punch him, says “Raaahr…. tickle, tickle tickle!” and tickles him.

I just can’t get over how peaceful my little boy is. ^_^

Coloma's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr

Awww, the peaceful warrior baby.

I remember those days, it can be really hard coping with a freind that has a wild child.

When my daughter was 2 the neighbor kid who was a tank of a 4 year old pushed her down on the concrete floor of the garage and she banged her little head really hard…oh man…took a lot of self control, I wanted to toss that kid across the room. lol

Seek's avatar

I bet!

Ian is pretty rough-and-tumble. He very recently put his head through my fish tank, and came away basically unharmed. His little friend is pretty violent, but Ian handles him so well, it’s amazing. And he’s still excited to see “J” every time we go over! I’m just amazed that for as long as they’ve been playing together, Ian hasn’t yet hit him back. Not a violent bone in his body, unless he’s scolding me for something.

(( which is hilarious in and of itself: a 20 month old pointing his finger at Mommy and saying “That is no! That is no!!!” ))

chels's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr That is awesome. Your son is so cute!

Coloma's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr

I really love your bug collecting and gardening stories, takes me back to those fun filled mommy days!

My daughter was a bug nut too, we did a lot of collecting and invented the ‘bug cafe’ when she was about 4.

Once she hatched wasps in her dresser drawer, dixie cups full of wierd larvae with ventilated tin foil tops, haha, one day I heard a buzzing and when I opened the drawer wasps flew out! :-0

It’s refreshing to see a devoted mom, goo job, it goes soooo fast!

bob_'s avatar

I was able to wake up early enough to go renew my passport. The process went by smoothly, and 45 minutes after walking in, I walked out with my new, 10-year passport. Yay!

Seek's avatar

@bob_ Yay!

(I totally need to do that. My passport still has my maiden name in it)

Coloma's avatar

@bob_

Woo hoo…put on your travelin’ shoes!

I am so ready to leave the country again, but alas, only one big fun thing a year in my budget right now!

mattbrowne's avatar

Listened to the Galactica Season 3 soundtrack during my commute. Wonderful music.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Got to have a leisurely brunch with a friend I’ve not seen face to face since the beginning of this year.

Coloma's avatar

OMG!

It’s official, I just brought home my new little kitty from the shelter!

She is adorable!

About 10 months old, Torti point Siamese, one of those cats thats starts purring the second you touch them!

Beautiful blue eyes and the darling orange, black and grey mottled face, ears and tail with gorgeous rippley waves of sealpoint on a creamy background.

She’s all set up in the spare bedroom after a bit of exploring.

Yeah…just thought I’d ‘drop by’ animal control yesterday..uh huh…couldn’t get her off my mind all night and now she is here!

Anyone want to help with names?

I was thinking of Lola or Plum…feel free to pm me or whisper some ideas.

She is blown away by the sights and sounds of this mountain, geese honking, goats and sheep baaaing, horses and mules carrying on.

Hello country kitty! Of course she won’t be going outside for a long time yet.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Name: Moppet

Aster's avatar

I wish this said, “good” instead of “great” but the good stuff was I got a movie in the mail “Fire in the Sky” I’ve been wanting . I wanted the DVD but bought the VHS in desperation. The bedroom tv is a 42” hanging on the wall. .A GREAT day will be when I get a 52” instead. Or larger. Samsung.
Another good thing was my H brought home six big homemade rolls. They taste very “yeasty” and are always freshly baked.

OpryLeigh's avatar

@Coloma I love the name plum!

It hasn’t happened yet but this evening I am going to see my favourite actor, Michael Ball, in Hairspray.

Aster's avatar

I noticed we now have pink Hydrangeas in the backyard flowerbed. Which is so nice since the roses seem to be DYING since the sprinkler system was put in YEARS BEFORE the roses were planted so it doesn’t seem to be reaching the roses. Sad.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

All my bosses I talked to gave me the thumbs up to switch up my job at work so I’m kind of excited.

Seek's avatar

My hubby found a ride to the Cannibal Corpse show, so I don’t have to go!

I just made an awesome batch of chocolate-marbled peanut butter fudge, and a pot of Irish coffee.

Now, I just need the youngling to go to bed early, and this will be a gooooood night. ^_^

MissAusten's avatar

I had this conversation with my five year old as I was tucking him in tonight:

Him: “Mommy, what’s this?”
Me: “That’s my chest.”
Him: “But what are these huge rock-shaped things?”
Me: “Those are called breasts.”
Him: “Too bad they aren’t called pumps.”

I don’t know what’s funnier, the fact that he called them “huge” which they aren’t or the fact that he thinks they should be called pumps.

Seek's avatar

@MissAusten – that is awesome. I wonder why he chose “pumps”.

jonsblond's avatar

Both my husband and I are tired after a long night, but since I’m not feeling well he offered to make dinner. I’m so lucky. He’s the best!

MissAusten's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr I didn’t ask because I didn’t want to know what he’d say!

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

Today I saw a badger and discovered this song.

jonsblond's avatar

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities good song. Jon asks if that is the whiskey talking? ;)

Draconess25's avatar

I punched my brother in the gut. He tried to eat mah toast!

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

@jonsblond Sadly, I have no whiskey tonight. :(

Coloma's avatar

Enjoyed a gorgeous day on the Sonoma coast, went to a fermentation festival. lol

Every possible thing one can ferment, from wine to pickles, saurkraut, goat cheese, all sorts of ciders, vinegars, olives.

Had some killer mexican food on the way home…a fattening day…tomorrow I can have one strawberry. haha

Now, doing a little cat blending time…Gad is not too happy, snorting and pissy but curious about this svelte new woman with the sweet voice, a brief nose to nose moment and then a disdainful smirk, he is now in my room regaining his composure. lol

rangerr's avatar

I just got back from playing a giant game of tag in DC.
2,000 people.
6 checkpoints scattered across the city.
Walking/running/metro are your only modes of transportation.
You make it to checkpoint 6, you win… something.

I’m not sure how many chasers we started out with, but if you got tagged, you gave them your blue ribbon and wore your orange one. You were then a chaser.
So by an hour into the game, chasers outnumbered the survivors by quite a bit.
Last I heard only 12 people had made it to the end.
My team got ambushed a block away from checkpoint two, but being a chaser was super fun.

It was SO fun. I can’t wait for next year.

MissAusten's avatar

We found a robin’s nest in a tree next to our front door. It’s right at my eye level, and so far has one very blue egg in it. I saw a hummingbird for the first time this spring, and the caterpillars my son has been raising are pupating (we’re pretty sure they’re going to be cabbage butterflies). I ordered milkweed plants in spite of my past failure to get them to grow and can’t wait to see if we can attract some monarchs to our yard later this summer.

In a few minutes my husband is taking the kids to his sister’s house and I am going to take a nap. :)

Draconess25's avatar

@MissAusten Monarchs are attracted to milkweeds?

MissAusten's avatar

Yes, it’s the only plant they lay eggs on and the only plant the caterpillars will eat. The toxins in milkweed are what make monarchs unpalatable to birds. There are other flowers the monarchs will visit for nectar, but we like to raise the caterpillars inside so they aren’t killed by parasitic wasps. If we have our own milkweed plants, it will save us all those trips to the park to collect leaves!

Draconess25's avatar

@MissAusten No wonder I see so many around my house! Our alley is ruled by milkweed!

Coloma's avatar

Zany morning down on the farm over here. lol

Cat integration day 3 coming along. A modest peace happening as both Gad and his new girlfriend lay about 5 feet apart on my persian rug observing each other. She rolling around doing her best seductive and coy girl cat moves to impress and entice the old gent. He, watching but with averted eye and occasionally tossing out a little grunt of annoynace..still..progress! :-)

Then…my female chinese goose Sonora has had a fetish for one of the neighbors sheep for sometime now, the two of them hang out at the fenceline and commune.

A few minutes ago outside watering when I see her doing the goose limbo and squeezing through the bottom gap of the ranch gate at the easement between neighbors pasture and mine. She goes up the hill about 30 yards where her sheep pal is lying down in the grass and proceeds to sidle right up under her chin and nibble on her feet!

I had to go after her and when the herd of 5 sheep, 3 mini-donkeys and a llama started to wander off she was running after them.

Had to go after her and carry her home, so now I have clothes pinned a bamboo beach mat to the gate to block off the rails of escape.

Sheesh…animal management 101 today!

janbb's avatar

Hey @jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities Are you up there in the Great North Woods yet?

Neizvestnaya's avatar

I switched shifts with a co worker so I could have the afternoon off with my bf, hopefullly to talk him into some lunch and windowshopping.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

@janbb Not yet. I took a few days off of traveling to visit some old friends. I’m in BC now, should be in Alaska on Wednesday morning. I’m traveling through beautiful country tomorrow (where I should start seeing bears, moose, and maybe caribou) so expect some pictures soon. :)

Coloma's avatar

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities

I was traveling through Colorado a couple of years ago when the monster Elk were migrating around.

OMG!

I couldn’t believe how ginormous they were, one stood over my car, it was like 8 feet tall, ( okay…maybe 7ft. with 8 ft. antlers, lol ) I am not kidding! I can’t imagine being that close to a moose!

Seaofclouds's avatar

I got a phone call from my husband today. :)

janbb's avatar

Had a very pleasant dinner with some close friends last night, sitting on their porch ovelooking the Gulf (not black here yet) in the pouring rain.

OpryLeigh's avatar

My car broke down last week and the garage have offered to fix it for me at half the price it would cost me anywhere else and it was going to be an extremely, painfully expensive job at the original price.

Coloma's avatar

@Leanne1986

Awesome for you!

yeah, car stuff…sheesh, I am lucky to have a really great mechanic that I trust implicitly to ‘steer’ me in the right direction.

Draconess25's avatar

I got a particularly wet kiss from my girlfriend today!

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Wonderful day off with my partner. We had a nice brunch, did some window shopping, took care of laundry, watched a great movie “Seven Pounds” and played with our dogs.

Jude's avatar

I made it home from the Big Apple in one piece and had the time of my life there. Oh, and I’m also even more in love with my girl.

I’d move there (or close to it, Brooklyn) in a heart beat.

MissAusten's avatar

I was cleaning and organizing the kitchen cabinets and found a bag of M&Ms. :)

Coloma's avatar

Took in a bag of Dvd’s to my local Dimple records and got $65 in credit!

Came home with a ton of fun new stuff…Dimple rocks!

Jude's avatar

My weekend in the Big City. =)

Oooh, I am never free of the travel bug, it’s always lurking just around the corner.

Fun for you! :-)

aprilsimnel's avatar

@jjmah – And you still haven’t been to Queens! Every cuisine on Earth in one borough!

Draconess25's avatar

Jude's avatar

@janbb A big, fat cyber hug coming your way.

janbb's avatar

Thanks, cookie – I felt it!

Coloma's avatar

Grumpy old man cat and new young zippy cat touched noses for the 1st time since last Friday and grumpy old cat approached new cat!

No huffing and puffing, just a moment of nose to nose!

Cat integration is coming along quite nicely!

OpryLeigh's avatar

I’m going to see Alicia Keys in concert tonight :)

Coloma's avatar

@Leanne1986 Fun! :-)

My best friends Morgan Mare, Misty, turns 30 today!

Still full of fire and attitude, many happy memories of riding with them, Misty always had to be the leader, a very competitive horse.

If my horse got too close to her rear, look out, explosive moment!

I am dropping by with some treats for her today!

Happy birthday you old diva!

MissAusten's avatar

I just watched this episode of Kitchen Nightmares, featuring paintings my husband did when the restaurant got its makeover! It’s a small part of the show, but he painted all of the birds on the walls. These shows never mention the people who do the work, let alone film them, but it’s still exciting to see something he painted on a program like that!

janbb's avatar

I’m not feeling depressed any more – swimming and thinking in a pool in Florida has worked its magic!

Neizvestnaya's avatar

I gathered enough for a mortgage payment.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

After 3,600 miles of traveling, I finally arrived in Alaska!

rangerr's avatar

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coloma's avatar

A dress up day for me, yeah!

Have an engagement later, pulling out the sexy black boots, black velvet jacket with lacy tank underneath, black & silver skirt with sexy earrings and necklace with a black velvet headband.

Fun, fun, fun! :-)

ru2bz46's avatar

This morning, I was walking past my gf on my way to the kitchen to make breakfast and surprised her with a kiss on the back of her neck. She grabbed me and pulled me into the bedroom before she had to leave for an appointment (with a nice glow). I’m still hungry, but I’m very happy…

janbb's avatar

I am in my happy place – my condo in Florida – and the sunlight is streaming through the skylights. We took a long walk this morning and I am about to go for a swim. Plus, I just had a BLT for lunch. Life is good.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

I shared a tasty brunch with my mother, got to hear what she wants to do with the next ten years of her life and made plans to get that going, it’s within my means and that alone is great.

Draconess25's avatar

I got to hold a lava rock!

MissAusten's avatar

I got my vegetable garden all planted: basil, oregano, plum tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions, eggplant, and watermelon. I’ve only ever grown basil and tomatoes, so having such a variety is making me very happy!

Also, my husband and I went to a funeral today. Not great, but it was such a beautiful and inspiring experience. A close friend’s father passed away after years of battling lupus and other health problems. It was an amazing sight to see the church packed so full of friends and relatives, and the eulogy was incredible. Very funny, but also very moving. A complete stranger could have come to that funeral and clearly seen how this man had lived a life full of love and hope. A lot of tears were shed, but at the same time, I felt humbled to have known someone who made such an impact on so many lives. It made for a very introspective day.

chels's avatar

I’ve realized that I want to open an art gallery.

Fridays are my weekly weigh in days. I’ve lost two more pounds. :)

sdeutsch's avatar

I started a flickr account for my new business and uploaded some photos of the letterpress cards I’ve been working on. I’m getting closer to being ready to sell stuff – this is so exciting!

Also, I picked fresh strawberries from our garden and put them on my chocolate ice cream last night. Heavenly!

And I finally had time to catch up on reading this question this morning – that always makes the day great. Lurve to all of you!

jeanmay's avatar

@sdeutsch Oooo! Lush!

Today my husband, son and I went to a pot luck party to celebrate Buddha’s birthday. We took pizza and chocolate brownies, both home made. Other delights included chicken noodle soup and barbecued red snapper. Good times.

Seek's avatar

I got my good car on the road!

I now can drive in reverse, and shift gears, and stop at red lights without stalling, and ride in air conditioning. Oh, life is good.

Jude's avatar

It’s confirmed; I’m going to my grade school reunion manana. Just like old times: brownies (this time the adult version), 80’s tunes, adult beverages and old school ColecoVision. =)

Coloma's avatar

Went to a hypnotherapy session yesterday before a biz. party, social scene.

The therapist told me when in trance that if I smoked a cigarette I would have a sore throat.

Had one with some champagne last night before dinner and immediately my throat felt sore!

Gah…I swear, mind stuff is sooo powerful.

Feel very detatched, have 3–4 in a pack in the garage…not even tempted this morning with my coffee! This appt. was only the 2nd out of 7, I KNOW I will drop this once and for all! ;-)

rangerr's avatar

Thanks to Google, I’ve been playing Pacman for about an hour now.
I am getting nothing done, but I am totally happy.
Damn you, Google.

Trustinglife's avatar

Me, too, Rangerr.

Sarcasm's avatar

Pretty sure this will be the highlight of my summer.
I went to the grocery store. The lady in front of me literally purchased mayonnaise and chocolate. I opted for some magnificent juice I had never heard of (apple+strawberry), yogurt, waffles, and a few pounds of fruit.
When I got home, nobody else was home. So I blasted some Industrial music, and had a magnificent afternoon breakfast of apples and waffles, washed down with some delicious juice.

Jude's avatar

rangerr's avatar

I woke up early and took the rabbits for a walk.
I’m now off to the Chili Cookoff.
Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Cage the Elephant, Anberlin and Switchfoot will all be there.

Oh man, I’m excited.

janbb's avatar

@rangerr Is that the one near D.C.? My son is going too.

aprilsimnel's avatar

There are some good-looking blokes outside playing footy in the park, and I’m watching them play with my morning cup of coffee while a bagpiper practices near them. I’m not in the UK yet, but this is as close as I’ll get this morning, so it’s all good.

Jude's avatar

Sadly, I’ll be missing my reunion. I’ve been up since 6 with a killer headache, and about 15 minutes ago, I started upchucking my innards. :(

I’m sorry :-(

Oh damn, @jjmah! That’s a real bummer!

free_fallin's avatar

I just found this thread. It’s full of wonderful things.

It’s very early here but I woke up and made white chocolate and strawberry pancakes, snuggled up with my doggie and watched the sun rise this morning.

Today is going to be a great day and I wish the same for all of you.

janbb's avatar

@free_fallin Welcome to the thread!

Jude's avatar

Anyone up for a plantonic afternoon snuggle/nap?

ru2bz46's avatar

My wife pro tem filed for divorce a couple weeks ago and hired a mediator to oversee the proceedings. At first, I thought she was going to play fair since we have been getting along great for the past 18 months we’ve been separated. I found out last week that she wants part of my pension. I walked out. This morning, she demanded alimony too. Then she decided that she wanted both houses to go into foreclosure, instead of splitting them and each keeping one. Finally, she decided to file bankruptcy, which will force me to do the same since we are in California.

The good news is that my gf is so supportive through all of this. She is my rock.

chels's avatar

Well… we got up at 6-ish, showered and got dressed. Headed out a bit after 7:45, had breakfast at Pret. Got the train at 9. Got the bus @ 11 something. Went to Alton Towers. Rode 2 rollercoasters. Had lunch. Sat in a line for another coaster for 2 hours, but it broke. Got sunburn. (WHAT THE FUCK I NEVER GET SUNBURN AND OF ALL PLACES I GET BURNED IN ENGLAND…WHAT?!?!) Then we went back to the bus station. Got a train where I fell asleep. Got another train. Walked around Manchester looking for a specific magazine (Creative Review, which we never found). Got another train which had about 23928392 stops and ridiculous passengers.. and then we got a taxi home. Now Richard’s playing xbox and I’m about to open a bottle of wine. I. Am. Tired.

Cupcake's avatar

@ru2bz46 yuck for your ex, yay for your girlfriend.

Our stuff is ~80% packed. We have the final walk-through Tuesday and close on our house on Wednesday. We have movers booked for Friday.

A week from today I’ll wake up in a “new” house. :)

Looking back at old pics of my Mom. There is one with my Dad back in ‘70s (two years before yours truly was born). Man, I look exactly like her. My one brother looks identical to my Dad (creepy). There’s a man next to them in the pic who is a spitting image of Ringo Star.

I’m home alone and reminiscing. Happy memories. Although, a bit sad because right now I could use a big Mom hug. Any Moms out there willing to give me a big Mom hug?

It’ll be 3 years on the 25th.

jeanmay's avatar

My girls and I went out attempting to explore the downtown area today. It rained like crazy! We sat in the car for a bit, waiting for it to slow down some and dashed out when it did… only to find the main place we’d wanted to go is closed on Sundays. Oh, well. It was an adventure. :P

I saw a friend for the first time in two years. I used to spend every waking minute with her and her awesome ways. But she went to college in Alaska where her mother lived. I also got to meet her awesome boyfriend, James. We hung out, they treated me to The Melting Pot and we just laughed for a few hours.

Made me feel like I was 19 again, when I first met her. And it made me happier than I have been in a very long time. She’s an excellent friend.

asmonet's avatar

It also occurred to me today that after two months I am more able to focus on the things I loved about my childhood dog who died on March 27th of this year. I loved Athena since the moment I got her when I was eight years old, and for over fifteen years she was my world. A fluffy white bouncy ball of energy – a Maltese.

I held her urn today in my lap, like I do everyday and smiled to myself thinking of how she always curled up in the same spot. And this time, the smile wasn’t chased away with tears.

rangerr's avatar

We had a party for the LOST finale.

It was a lot more fun when my other grandkids were growing up, because we had lots of nieces and nephews around to enjoy, but this day there were two toddlers and five adults. We still had fun.

It’s Victoria Day here in Canada! A day off! =)

According to my Mancunian friend:

“Lesbianism was never made illegal in Britain because when Queen Victoria was shown the proposed legislation she refused to sign it, as she wouldn’t believe that lesbians existed: “Women do not do such things.” In other versions of the story, government ministers struck out all references to women in the Act, because they couldn’t think of a way of explaining matters to the dear old queen.”

@jjmah

That’s very interesting!

Cool and cloudy here this a.m. hanging out having coffee while the new cat explores around the deck and patio, she is very captivated by all the sights and sounds but very good about staying close and coming when called. The 1st few periods of outdoorsy exploration, she is doing very well!

I have a friend having some cosmetic surgery tomorrow, an eyelid lift, so I am thinking of driving out to her house and leaving her a cool kinda see through silk scarf for her recovery phase, I was teasing her about wearing a veil for a few weeks, said I was going to call her ‘Shite Sheila’ lololol

Well this was yesterday but I had no computer access.

We went to Richard’s parents for a BBQ. It was super hot and we both got sun burned, again. He told his family about us getting married, they were SO SO EXCITED. So the whole day was lots of fun. We drank a bit and ate a lot of good food.
Then Richard decided that he wanted to go camping so him and I went up and camped in the woods by this resevoir for a night. It was really awesome.
Now we’re home and I can’t wait to just relax.

The LRA bill that I mentioned up here has been signed by Obama.

It’s a law.

I almost can’t breathe out of excitement.

My Mom passed away on May 25th at 5:20. p.m.

Just now, I was in the backyard, lying on the lounger, feeling the warm sun on my face, eyes closed and the St. Giles Church bells “sang” (a few songs) to me. I haven’t felt that relaxed in months.

@jjmah A hug – even if I wasn’t your first choice for “spin the bottle.”

@jjmah Peace & love to you.

Perfect synchronicity over this way, my gardener buddy just finished mowing as it began to pour rain…woo hoo..how perfect is that? :-)

Local Hollywood video is closing so came home with a boatload of dvd’s on closeout….a rainy movie night comin’ up! Maybe the new Sherlock Holmes or The Lovely bones, or, or….

Bought myself an iPod Nano today. I felt bad about spending the money, but when I told my husband that I had done it, he said he was going to buy me one anyway for my birthday (oops), so now he is going to think of another birthday gift. :)

A portion of my old kitchen ceiling caved in today (well, it started yesterday, but more fell today). It’s heavy, old, textured plaster and made quite the mess. The good new is, none of it fell on us. Or our cats! The only damage (other than the ceiling itself) is a slight dent in my Simple Human garbage can. I love that thing, and they don’t even make it anymore! I can live with that. :)

@janbb Time to start a new thread? Every time I click on GA, it reloads the whole dang page.

rangerr's avatar

Is there a new thread yet? I didn’t see one.. but here’s my day:

Today was the first of many summer horse shows.
First competition I had was barrel racing. My horse stopped at the second barrel and rammed his head into it until it fell over. Then proudly trotted around the ring.
So we got disqualified. That asshole.

Second competition was trick riding.
I was on a horse I hadn’t really practiced with, but I took second place today.
Tomorrow is round two for trick, so here’s to hoping I can get my first place title back.

Then I took a nice trail ride and went down to the creek.
My horse decided to lay down.
In the water.
With me on his back.

It was cold.

By popular (or at least Auggie) demand, new thread starts here.

rangerr's avatar

@janbb Oops. I’m impatient.

janbb's avatar

No prob, sweetie. I had – ohmygod – real life things to do this morning.

Draconess25's avatar

@Coloma Why are they closing? They are here, too.

Fully recovered from the plague (Strep). :)

Sign of the times…going belly up like a lot of other bizs. Too bad…my local towns have lost Hollywood, Blockbuster and several local mom & pop places in the last 18 months…big fat bummer.

I moved into my apartment about a week ago and yesterday got internet and cable. I also got my old job back and I start in July! :)

Magnificent afternoon here, one of those perfect spring days, azure blue sky, big fluffy clouds drifting by, light breeze. Sitting in the secret garden zone with the new kitty while the geese graze, peace at it’s finest. :-)

Drove down to the beach to see the best friend it was only for a few hours but it was fun all the same, minus the memorial day weekend traffic. =]
