How do I get this grapevine to make grapes?

I have a thompson grapevine in the yard. It is about 5 years old. I bought it a friend, but then it died in the cold last winter. It has produced grapes once, but at the same time a bunch of little flies decided it was a buffet and landed all their larvae on it and left no leaves.

I wasn’t around to manage the fly infestation, so it just kind of gives up for the year when that happens. This year I have kept up with it, and sprayed it with a seventh generation dish soap solution. No bugs, but it doesn’t look like it wants to make fruit. Does it need a mate?

I bought a Red Flame grape vine to put elsewhere in the yard, will putting the red flame nearby be enough for them to have grapes together?
