How does Isolde die in Wagner's opera "Tristan und Isolde?"?

Asked by sliceswiththings (11723points) May 10th, 2010

All the synopses I’ve found just say that after Tristan dies, she just dies too. Does she kill herself? Die of a broken heart?

Oops, sorry, they both die in the end. Go see it anyway!

Why don’t you read the actual play?

@Lightlyseared Because the paper is for a music class. Unfortunately the score is not very useful for exact plot details. And because it’s due in a few hours.

Liebestod or “love death”. The exact mechanism of death was never specified in Wagner’s libretto.
